Reading the site thing it would appear that they were doing a brief on how to land a chopper on the carrier.
The approach wasn't altered for the 10-15kt tail-winds; which apparently makes it hard to control the descent of a helicopter.

So it crashed and sank 3km to the ocean floor.

haha his accent and acting was so bad in that i don't know how he ever got another job. although, his script for the movie was terrible too so i guess there wasnt much he could do.
