I click on Search up there on the right sort of.

In the first box below "Only search my posts", without ticking the checkbox, i type: Infra

I click GO to the right of that and it brings up 4 topics, none of which are the topic in which we were discussing various ticket/incident management applications, and people (me) were bitching about infra enterprise and others were supporting it.

I type: INFRA

same problem

I type: infra

same problem.

wtf am i doing wrong? Why doesn't that thread appear? How does this search work?

thank you trog.

turns out no one in that thread said they were using Infra Enterprise version 8, so i had all that search frustration for nothing.

Seems that the page buttons don't work either it just goes to the page number of the forums. I.e. hit 2 and go to the second page of the forums rather that the search results.

has qgl search ever worked? every time I've tried to use it, it either returns nothing like what I searched for, or just times out/displays a blank page.

works for me but I a) know what it's doing on the back end and b) remember the subject of pretty much every thread I've read or posted in so its a little easier

making some changes at the moment to allow google to index the site so I can just drop a google search box in here and let everyone have at it.

I was more referring to the part where it just times out/displays a blank page which is probably 8/10 times for me

so once you delegate the search responsibilities to google how long is it until we'll see qgl powered by phpbb?

i'm with Insom in feeling a bit uncomfortable, but oh well. at least there's no link between my real name, Brian Hudson McGee, and my nick, natslovR. i guess they could just google for natslovR anyway.

I'm uncomfortable about this also

privacy inherently, because of all the s*** we say on this forum, is to a captive audience (relatively).
if google indexes it till the end of time I think you'll really kill off the distinct flavor of this forum.
I know this is not a democracy but please don't do it.

I'm not sure why you think Google wouldn't have been indexing it already - the plan is now just to make it slightly easier for people to USE google to find the results (eg, Thread Topic in page title, which I added yesterday).

If you're posting stuff on the internet in a public forum, you should be prepared for it to end up on google (and other search engines), really.

cause you/term/whoever complained about the crawlers hitting ausforums and disallowed them through robots.txt? that was impression i had as to y google search didn't work here.

Well, we did have them disallowed through robots.txt until recently. I didn't actually know it was disallowed, and when I checked noone else did either. It certainly hasn't always been like that; as far as I can see it's only been like that for a year or so.

The crawlers that were screwing over ausforums recently weren't "legit" search engine things - they were (as far as I can tell) dodgy haxor things page raping and harvesting email addresses or looking for exploits or something. They would ignore a robots.txt anyway.

this thread is now on google. Along with a duplicate as it thinks qgl.ausforums, and ausforums.com/x/439207 are different.. and every other ausforums site.
