I also drive about 35mins or so one way, and either way I go is usually terrible.

Riverside Expressway then on to the ICB, or Logan Road to the Story Bridge and through the valley :(

I work at Roma Street, live at Bulimba. I've got plenty of options to get home, all relatively quick. I can drive to Morningside Rail Station and train in. I can get the 230 from Oxford St and bus to George x Adelaide St and walk. I can get the citycat from Bulimba to North Quay. All regular, easy and close. Which one I take depends on when my shift start time is.

15 mins in traffic, 20 on bad days. Travel 6Km's to work on a Motorcycle or Drive. Oh and it takes a hour by Bus > Train > another Train thanks to my home location and work.

Forget spending $6 a day on public transport when the bike could go a whole week on $6 with that amount of distance.

But, riding ftw!

pilot the barge up and down fairfield rd (ok, truth be told wifey pilots, i just sit there)

fairfield rd is a breath of fresh air getting from salisbury to west end

only a few spots of traffic congestion and we rat run to avoid them, rest of the time its easy sailing, 10/15 minute trip each way

only part of the trip that sux is wifey works at milton and having to get over william jolly bridge and back for her most days and me when i drop her off

man that takes fooking ages

I catch the bus to/from work at Toowong now. Drive to Eight Mile Plains busway station with the lady and we bus it - me to Toowong and her to the Royal Brisbane or Prince Charles.

I just got sick of raging at the stupid tards every day on the road. Better to cruise up the Busway while reading a good book or listening to some music than concentrating on the f***wit in front of me for 45 mins each way!

50 minute bus ride to work from Parkinson to the CBD, on my way in its ok, I'm the first stop.

On the way home its a joke cause brisbane buses are useless and I get to wait 20 minutes plus regularly for a bus that comes every 10 minutes....

If rail were an option, I'd use it, its more reliable. Its just a shame that my rail line stops at high quality areas like Logan, Beenleigh and Woodridge.

Live in ippy (switch reprasent) and drive to the Southport every day. Spend a combined total of at least $125 / week on fuel and tolls. Takes about 75 mins - go through springfield then onto the logan thus bypassing the clusterf*** that is the ippy mway.

I'd train it in if it didn't require like 2 trains and a bus :P

I work on the other side of Gladstone from where I live, and starting and finishing at 6:30, the trip is about 8-12 minutes. Driving in the "peak hour" the trip would be 10-13 minutes.

Until 2 years ago, I lived in Brisbane and had to drive from Mitchelton to the CBD. This was a 15 minute drive starting at 6am. Leaving about 4pm on a Friday, 15 minutes became 1.25+ hours driving home.

In making this post, I have realised my steering wheel does not take the beatings it once did. These were often instigated about by...

1> Automatic drivers who stoped miles from the car in front and then trundled foreward VERY slowly at their leisure. This is especially annoying when they are blocking access to a turning lane that is currently moving. Oblivious to the outside world, they check make up etc. and sometimes run into the person in front.

2> Twits that run bus lanes, ignoring numerous chances to enter the normal lanes, but do so with their right indicator on. They will eventually push in, but not before passing a minimum of 1500 cars. They are the spanners you see having arguements with police when they finally get booked. For some good times, try to pace them where possible. Smile and wave. Use your middle finger. Have health insurance.

3> Prats that let the twits in.

These three groups seem to be replaced in Gladstone by one major one, the 4WD atards. You know the type, the ones where lane markings are simply something everyone else has to stick to. Especially interesting to watch going around a two lane round about side by side. They are not bound by other annoying road rules such as indicators either.

Fkn gateway pos. EVERY f***ing day its s***. Deads***s building a new fkn bridge thats not the problem its every bloody merge onto the gayway thats the problem. They're all 20m long and they're f***ed every day. Then we've gotta pay $2.50 for the piece of s***.

That's how you're supposed to drive douche.

It's the idiots that accelerate to 40km/hr when the speed is about 10km/hr then slam on the brakes, rinse/repeat for 45 minutes. Driving at a constant and slower pace while leaving distance makes a better experience for all.

true a lot of the time chub, but specifically in the situation herr uberpanzer mentioned, it's a problem because they are preventing traffic from getting out of the straight lane and into the turning lane

4wd owners shouldn't have to indicate, the world should move around them to put them in the correct lane.

Persay, just because I'll be getting a bonus of some sort and the selling of my car + the bonus might get me a nice new car. The whole train thing is just temporary until I get said new car.

oh and Mr Hardware, good chance the new car will be an STi or an evo X
