you can probably tell from the heading that i know a lot about the whole wireless thing...(hehe)
If all goes to plan, i will be ordering ADSL or ADSL 2 tommorrow. Im guessing that they will supply me with the appropriate modem and so all i need then is the gear to share this lovely bandwith with any other denizens of my haus! So could u guys recommend a good brand / model etc setup for me? ta :) |

I have a D-Link DL-524 Wireless Router.
Main computer still uses a cable but the laptop uses the wireless and it works a treat. Can stream music and video off the main computers HD no problem. I'd say they would be the good side of $80. They also have another few ports for connected more wired devices. 4 stars. |

Netgear Dg834 Haha I hope you are joking. I have this router and it's pure s*** for anything more than light browsing. Ended up disabling most of the features and putting a WRT54GL behind it to do all the hard work. |

You can get surfboard modems with built in wireless these days. See if there's a dsl equiv.
http://www.ozcableguy.com/routers.html Personally, I love my wrt54g with ddwrt firmware. I got the v2 which still had 16 meg of ram but now the wrt54gL I think it is has taken over from the plain old g as being the awesomeness of home routers. last edited by whoop at 20:49:35 17/May/07 |

yeah ok. because one person cant use one they must be s*** GG We still await any discussion from you as to why the DG834 is good. All you did was type "Netgear Dg834" and click Post. Back up your claims or f*** off. |

I also recommend the Netgear DG834G.
Very solid product. I've sold 100's of them only had a couple have issues and these were environmental problems like s***ty phone line etc. Or the Billion 7300G - I am falling more and more in love with this product over the DG834G but it's a few extra $$$ |

another reason for the DG834G is it noob proof.
Menu in the Billions are harder to find things. |

Wireless sucks, get network over power! i spent hundreds of quid at my new flat on wireless... netgear, lynksys and dlink. soooo many issues... last flat had no worries. finally gave up and bought ethernet over power. |
