I haven't been to a dawn service since I was a kid, so I figured I'd go this year. I vaguely remember there being a Dawn Service held outside the Gaythorn RSL, does this still happen? Or is the only place it's held in the city?

Also, stupid question but, what time is it held? I know at dawn, but what time is dawn? :P

So how many people out there actually bother getting up at 4:30am to attend the service? (not counting the people who are still up getting s***faced from the night before).

i go to dawn service every year, anzac day means a lot more to me than any of the dumb religious holidays.
there are heaps of local places that hold dawn services:
http://www.ourbrisbane.com/whatson/anzacday/
usually i go to toowong memorial, cos thats where i used be a part of the actual flag service and i catch up with my old army mates.
this year i am going down to currumbin at the elephant rock service.. should be nice to see the sun come up over the water and the beach. i also heard a rumour that powderfinger will be down there..cant confirm if they are putting on a big performance or whatever..

Well if its any help, this morning on Sunrise they had their program display of Anzac day which was the show from Currumbin at 6am following the dawn service and then the finger's playing at 8am.

i'm very un patriotic, but i can still go "f*** yeah" to those that did there thing during the war and helped make this country what it is. but i dont feel i need to go to a dawn service to stay grateful.

This will be my first one... 4:28am in the CBD I heard on the radio...

RANT BEGIN

I also agree.. Anzac day is a much more important day then any of the religious holidays... Real men and women died to protect our way of life as apposed to an imaginary man with divine powers, who ultimately was suppose to have "undied" anyway so where is the sacrifice there I ask? <-- that was rhetorical :)

RANT END

Go.....oooooOOOOOOO ANZACS!

alot of people will argue that the death of "our" lord and saviour is far more important then anzac day.

but what ever.

Getting mega maggoted is the Australian way - that is patriotism. I think our veterans would want us to get maggoted.

I might go to the range and hit a few too.

i wonder why you even are still posting in this thread groydis, you obviously don't care about what forefathers of this country have sacrificed for you so why are you commenting.
