yeh saw this today being 'Tight@rse Tuesday'.

Was pretty good ...not excellent but pretty good nonetheless.

Good Points.
* Jessica Biel (she can act!)
* Ed Norton is always a legend and gives another intense performance.
* The Acting in general is good.
* The art direction and cinematography is very authentic to the period.

Bad Points.
* The storyline whilst solid is a little ho-hum and unengaging.
* The twist like the 'Prestige' was a bit too easy to work out.

I'd have to say I liked this more than the Prestige ... only because the Prestige was ruined for me with it's retarded ********************* ending.

Yeah, they were clones in The Prestige.

Anyway, The Illusionist wasn't too bad although it was damn slow and so easy to work out. In saying that Jessica Biel is an absolute glamour and a million time better than Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johanssen.

Dude, not cool. Spoilers should only be mentioned in threads about the movie being spoiled, so people know to avoid the thread based purely on its title. Luckily it doesn't affect me as I've seen both movies, but other people aren't so fortunate.

My straw poll of the 2 magician movies tells me that whether you like The Illusionist or not depends on when you saw it in relation to The Prestige.

Which ever one you saw first people seem to like better. sLaps_Forehead is the first exception.

It may also be related to seeing them close together.

The Prestige comes out on DVD this month so if you don't wont anything to be ruined don't read the spoilers above.

You know how often you see two different film studios coming out with the same idea for a movie around the same time, and usually one of them is rushed just to take market share away?

eg, Finding Nemo vs Shark Tail kinda thing...

That comment is just ... wrong.

The Prestige was brilliantly acted and very well made but it was way too easy to pick the first secret and the 2nd secret was soul crushingly crap.
To me the Prestige started off like a masterpiece painting and when you get to the retarded end it's like they threw a bucket of s*** over the Mona Lisa.
