Options -> Presets - courteous definitely works, optimized MIGHT work (needs more testing), anything higher and you suck

Basically the error you get means you have too many connections open to the ausgamers server. We put in some filtering when we were getting smashed by chinese drones farming pages for email addresses to stop multiple connections from the same IP.

So anything above Optimized in fasterfox is bad?Only in the sense that it opens a jillion connections to web servers to try and slurp as much as it can. |

Yeh, it's really annoying because I'm sure a lot of people go "hey, that DOES sound fast", and turn it on. Unfortunately its annoying to web server maintainers.
Well, that's a broad generalisation. It's annoying to ME. |

basically now though it doesn't matter; if you're using dirty things like that you'll just get the occasional failure message and/or broken image. I'm hoping to change the error message to something more useful though (like, omgz, are you using fasterfox? dial it back a notch, bro") |

You know "jillion" isn't a real number. I know this because I'm old and wise.

I would like to apologise to everyone for the Ausgamers slowness.

are you running fasterfox or some other faget thing that tries to open a million connections to the web server? I get it with standard Firefox2, I tried turning on pipelining to see if that would stop it, it doesn't. Pages also only half load in opera as well I think I tried IE once and it did the same thing (half loads). |

I've been having problems such as broken links, CSS not loading and content not displaying from IE6, IE7 and FF2 (all default installs) and I'm not using any plugins that sound like a laxative.

I'm getting this in regular old IE6. I'm also seeing it in avante (ie rendering), opera 9, konqueror (under kde 3.5) and a netscape browser I installed at work for testing.
The only thing both sites have in common is that they're connected via netspace. The work site wouldn't have anyone else on QGL and home sure doesn't either. |

whoop, anyone else at your place accessing ausgamers at the same time? nope, just my parents here and neither of them know how to use a computer. I've been having problems such as broken links, CSS not loading and content not displaying from IE6, IE7 and FF2 (all default installs) and I'm not using any plugins that sound like a laxative. That's pretty much what happens to me, it's like the page has loaded but the css hasn't been parsed and the page is just one big blue page with black text. |

Yep I've seen the unstyled pages too. In fact I just got a 503 while attempting to write this reply.
