zomg, I would never have expected them to get another album out so quickly given there previous track record but I guess now that Trent is a little more clear headed after giving up drugs and also needing to rebuild his fortune after his previous manager making off with most of it, it's not quite so much a surprise.
On another note, I got an email a few weeks ago saying that NIN are going to release one of their concerts in full 1080p on both HD DVD and BluRay which should be pretty cool. |

Came across this earlier this morning, definitely sounds like a bit of a return to the mid 90s stuff. Not that I don't love Fragile and Teeth but my pref is definitely the earlier albums. Sign of good things to come imo, and it's not even going to take him 5 years this time.

Nine Inch Nails has revealed the tracklist for Year Zero on the Web site yearzero.nin.com, and it looks like the new CD will have 16 tracks. The album is due in stores on April 17, and the first single, “Survivalism," will arrive at radio on February 27 with an add date of March 6. Reportedly Year Zero will be the first of two concept albums, and the second one will be released probably in 2008.

What is a concept album? It's what you say to cover your arse when you produce and release something that mainstream listeners and long-term fans will probably hate and complain about. |

I'm not sure if Creepy is being an ass for no apparant reason or just uninformed, but a concept album is an album where all the tracks follow a certain them, sometimes telling a story etc. A good example is Mastodon's Leviathan in which all the tracks have something to do with Moby Dick. Pink Floyd were also big on concept albums and I would say that neither of those drew "complaints from mainstream listeners and long-term fans".

I know what a concept album is. However, I can't help but think that advertising ahead of release that it is a "concept album," paints a picture to avoid an expectation that may not be realised.
Why not let the listener draw the conclusion on the themes? |

Also such albumns as Relayer by Yes and Thick as a brick by Jethro Tull.
The late 60's through to the end of the 70's saw tonnes of concept albumns released. I blame drugs. |

Sgt. Peppers was a concept album. Indeed it was. However, neither the Beatles nor Pink Floyd...nor Jethro Tull employed 42Entertainment to do their thing. We're also talking in hindsight. Let's see what happens. I blame drugs. Indeed. The catch here is that Trent's apparently *off* them now. |

sweet i saw them last year they went off reznor is da bomb.
heres some trivia Reznor is an admitted addict to the id Software first-person shooter Doom, and cites his addiction as being the cause of some delays between albums. Similar to Doom, the FPS Quake, features a 'Nail Gun', with ammunition boxes displaying the Nine Inch Nails "NIN" logo, in tribute to Reznor's support of the game. |

WOOT.... got my tickets.
For anyone interested, presales are open @ nin-thespiral. You have to sign up to the nin fnaclub but it's only $35US. Limit 2 tickets per person and they're ~$60US each. Because of the time delay it doesn't look like the Brisbane ones are up yet but should be pretty soon. |

Also if you're a fan you may be interested in the fact that one of the songs accidentally got leaked.

There's now another song from the album floating around the interweb called "Me, I'm not" ... pretty cool song, seems a little reminiscent of Downward Sprial material to me.
