So I have to go to the other side of the world from Friday to Tuesday because of work and I've never been there before.
I have no friends/family there so does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what is to do over a weekend and for the night life? |

... Play WoW. Half the people in that game seem to be from Perth since there's nothing else to do.

... Play WoW. Hotel rates for internet access are too high, $11.95/hr or some s***. Good vibes festival sounds like it could be the go, what's Freemantle all about? |

It's the most remote capital city on the entire planet, is there any other way to describe how far away it is? |

since when has perth been on the other side of the world? Anybody who has ever flown - or worse, driven - there would agree it feels like you're flying to the other side of the world. |

Who would be insane enough to drive from brisbane to perth? You might as well walk it if you're willing to kill yourself.

When I did it, we stopped at Byron, Port macquarie, Sydney, some place in the middle of no where, Adelaide, Port Lincon, Cactus Beach, Albany and eventually Perth. Although, we flew back. |

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, Fremantle sounds like the place to go for some dinner and night life. One of the things I do intend on doing is catching the sun as it goes down over an ocean - never seen that happen before so will be something new.

I've heard it's good and probably something I'd do if I wasn't going solo. It's a shame it costs a bajillion dollars to get to Perth otherwise I'd fly the gf over for the weekend.

since when has perth been on the other side of the world? Hey hey hey, Perth ain't the end of the earth. But you sure can see it from there. i've ridden a vfr750 from brisbane to perth ... & back! Was the constant wind battering harsh? How many hour stints did you do? How did you go about refuelling? Wouldn't you have to refuel like every 2 hours? |

OOh yeah, i spent lots of holidays on rot nest island, it was awesome, they have weird native animals called Quokas. they are sort of like a cross between a rat/possum/wallaby. they are awesome.

well, the only thing i've ever heard of happening is perth is raping and murdering young girls in shopping centre toilets. But I wouldn't be advising anyone to do it, I couldn't stand seeing that place in the news again.

Most of the place to go have been mentioned, so I'll throw in supporting votes for:
- Freo - Margaret River - Northbridge - Rott Nest Is. And while yer at it, Cotteslough (sp?) Beach, for a west coast ocean sunset (something you don't see every day, living in Bris). |

Piss off and don't come back. :( Fremantle, Cottleslough Beach and possibly a solo drunken wine tour sound like the plan. Out of the good vibrations thing the only band I even know is the 'boys and for $99 seems like a bit of a waste. last edited by TicMan at 12:29:15 14/Feb/07 |

If you go Fremantle be prepared to wait for a cab, cause cabs suck dog dicks here in Perth, especially at Freo... The Newport rocks!
Depending on your tastes, the Burswood Casino has a nightclub that is full of young lovelies, but they tend to be very mainstream. |
