Topic: Asking price for selling 80gb ipod

This is just to get an idea from people:
I have an 80gb video ipod that I want to sell.
Its only 3 months old and would include a 2 year extended warranty (after apple warrantly expires, and is automatic, no resigning or anything)
It would also include everything that comes standard, ie headphones and black pouch and PC connector cable.
It would also include a white leather case.

The ipod is in great condition and only has a few minor wear scratches, but it has always been kept inside a case with a protective film over the front to protect the screen from scratches.

I want to know what is a reasonable asking price for the above? Or a reasonable reserve price if I was to list it on Ebay?
Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.
And if you have something stupid to say, just dont say anything.

My gf's 30G one is aweosme.

Holy s*** just looked at the website... http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebObjects/australiastore?family=iPod

$500 brand new?!?! s***... I wouldn't pay much more than $300 second hand considering the prices of the nano's and 30gig model. When I think about the next iPod I'm going to buy I'm torn over the video or a nano, but there's no way I'd pay $500 so it makes the choice easy.

a quick search on ebay will tell you that ppl are asking between ~$150-$300 for 2nd hand 80gb video ipods. still way too much imo... you can get irivers with 60gb for ~$120 2nd hand.
And if you have something stupid to say, just dont say anything.

yah right :P the only way to achieve this is to lock the thread str8 after posting it :D

No point in comparing to iRivers IMO cause they are quite different. I think most people know whether or not they want an iPod.

I think most people don't realise how simple life is with every other mp3 player cept ipods.

But then, most people think sony is still a good alround brand.

I think you'd be able to get about 200 for it.

You should be able to get $300 for it, $250 or less for a quick sale.

Nano's are very cool but they have poorer audio quality....mind you i keep a lot of my stuff in lossless so i dont even know whether you'd be able to notice a difference with mp3's.

Are these generation of normal ipods any smaller than the last?

Poorer audio quality?? Wtf? How is the mp3 effected by the player?? And yes, the new ones are quite small - the 30Gig ones are really slim.

For the vast majority of users, there is nothing about the iPod that is overly complicated.

Not all portable audio devices give the same quality of audio output.....for example that new generation of ipod shuffles have horrendous quality. You can tell even through the factory ipod earphones.

Mind you i'm a dren who sits in the dark with noise isolating earphones playing music in lossless quality so that i can hear everything a good recording has to offer. Most people wouldnt really care i guess.

How much are you thinking captivate? Wouldnt mind upgrading to a colour screen and that 60 extra gig.

Not sure, as the thread says, how much would you be willing to pay for it?
