I recently got a personal loan from the CBA all good no problems getting it but once you have it they screw you over so bad.

I changed jobs and the day i get paid changed from monday to thursday. so i went to the bank and asked them if i could change the date that the money comes out on. They said i couldn't because that is the day they gave me the money which is far enough. so i put a stop payment on januarys payment. The guy said all i have to do is make the repayment before the 15 of feb. No problem.

So it get to last week on thursday the day i get paid and the bank decides that they are going to empty my account bar 5 bucks. so i call them up and ask wtf is going on and they say you are behind in your payments. so i explain to him what i did and he reversed the payment. Then yesterday they do the same thing take everything but 5 bucks again. Now i am realy pissed as i have rent to pay and they have screwed me again. They f***ed thing is that my repayments are only 495 that is what i have to pay by the 15th but they took 530 bucks out.

Now i have to call them up and get them to reverse the payment again. f*** i hate the commonwealth bank.

I am with the CBA and haven't had any faggatory problems like that.

However I haven't even touched a loan with them so I guess I am avoiding a lot of possible heartache.

Sounds to me like you are behind on your payments.
You can only move a date forward.

So if you wanted to move it from the 14th to the 21st for instance, you need to pay it on full on the 14th, then set it up to be paid again in full on the 21st, and then every 21st there after.

That or you could just go and say I want it taken out weekly.

I have had many problems with the Commonwealth Bank, all have been rectified instantly with a simple threat.

Step 1. Ask for the CSS reps name, their branch and their current supervisor.
Step 2. State that you are recording this conversation for future purposes
Step 3. Ask that all your curent accounts be closed with the Commonwealth Bank
Step 4. Tell them that you are taking this matter to the ombudsman and both their name and their supervisors will be stated in the case.

Always gotten my way with that proccedure. Next time you get a slient $25 charge for a statement (like above) or a $35 late payment fee from a loan... try it, always works.

It costs them something like $5000 at least to fight an ombudsman case even if they win, no bank is going to do that over a small fee... and the CSS rep will not risk their job by letting it get that far (they will tell their supervisor)... and the supervisor will not risk their job (from the higher bosses) by not refunding/correcting simple mistakes then getting the bank involved in a lawsuit.

Unless chub he is behind ... in which case who knows what nastiness they'll see fit to do.

I have been with the CBA since my junior saver account (among other banks).
And I have had less problems with them, then I have with ANZ,QTCU and Westpac. And when there has been a problem and it has been their fault they have fixed it with out me having to threaten anything. Hell ANZ always refuses to count my coin collections "oh were to busy" or "you need to count and bag it first please", or "you need to be here between 12.30 and 12.45 3rd Thursday of every month wearing a yellow shirt". CBA I rock up with a heap of coins they take the bag throw it through there machine put it in my account and ask me if there is anything else they can do... heck they even did it for me last time on the Saturday before Xmas.

This honestly sounds to me like
The loan repayment is due on the "14th"
But fubars pay day is now on the 21st.
And he was hoping he could just skip it on the 14th and now pay them back on the 21st now instead. Which you can do but you have to be in front on your payments (not behind) which means paying it on the 14th in full then paying again on the 21st and every 21st from there on in. Or by paying it on the 14th and then asking to be put on weekly/fortnightly repayments.

Or alternatively, get another loan to pay out the old loan and have it on whatever terms/days you like.

Yeah, sounds like you're in the wrong here (like Obes has pointed out).

I always make sure I'm ahead a month or two in repayments, that way I got a really nice buffer.

As of today i am totally free of commbank. I moved away from them years ago to Colonial, but then got reabsorbed when they bought colonial out.

I have moved everything to Citibank instead. No monthly fees, use of any ATM without fees (so no more hunting for a cba atm to avoid getting stung with non cba atm charges), and a visa debit card attached as standard.

Couldnt be happier. Citibank were a tad nazi to get accounts setup with, but I just went into a branch with 100 point id and they did it all no problems after that.. they initially wanted forms filled out by verifiable referees which was hard to get anyone to match.

I was also pretty shocked by their closing down account procedure security, or lac thereof. I just walked into a branch, handed over my card and said "I would like t o close down my account please". 10 mins later they gave me the cash and I walked out.. no forms, no signatures, no id required. Pretty shoddy.

yeh i did the same thing crusher, didn't have to show dick besides my keycard and i got the last $5 drawn out with no other id.

i'm with suncorp now and pretty happy. multiple subaccounts linked to my everday account which earn 6% interest and internet banking uses rsa token for authentication which is a step forward for internet banking (and those paranoid of using it)

I'm sure if that $5 was $50000 they would be a little more secure in the way they do things :D

Cancelling my credit card with ANZ was a nightmare. I went into the branch, told them what I wanted, they called up some guy to clarify everything, then put me onto the phone to confirm who I was. When I explained that I had moved all my banking to Suncorp and wanted to cancel the card, this guy wouldn't take no for an answer, wanted me to keep the card for 6 months just incase things didn't work out, offered me a lower interest rate and was just generally being a dick (Quite similar to that video a few months back when a guy tried to cancel with AOL). In the end I just hung up on the guy, and told the teller to make sure everything went through. I still get mail from ANZ offering me cards and s***.

5 or 50000 its not for them to just hand out someone else's money, if they give someone else that money even if its $5 its still theft.

@fubar

Thats just sounds like the person you spoke too has NFI.

Based on my 6+ years working in banking as coder, you have entered an arangement to pay $xxx.xx on the 15th of every month, the system calculates interest based on payments being made on that date. To change the date, having not worked for CommBank can only assume similar to other systems I've worked on, you'll need to arrange to change the date, yes this can be done but you'll need to pay the extra days, 6 days in this case, to ectend the date to 21st otherwise you'll always be in arrears.

The reason they extracted more than the payment will be penalties for being late, past the 15th, they usually waiver these late charges if youy have a good payment record previously. If its a new loan the system may not allow this without an override code, and this will require someone higher than phone support.

To resolve the issue go into the branch and talk with the loan officer, they will have the aurthority to change the loan. If you talk to another phone support person, get their name and a reference number, this will help in back tracking any actions taken on the loan and if the phone support got it wrong you'll be cleared of any additional charges.

Don't f*** with a loan, failure to pay regular payments will hinder your credit rating in the future.
