Ok, first off im running a 7900GTX on windows x64 and im wondering if the following is possible either through windows itself, Nvidia control pannel, or other third party software.
What im trying to do is have my monitor (primnary display) run at 1280 x 1024 @85hz, and have my 32" LCD TV (secondary display) run at a different resolution, one that fills the entire screen on the tv. There is no where in the nvidia control pannel where i am able to specify two different resolutions for both displays. The things i have tryed is setting LCD TV (secondary display) to different HDTV, SDTV, and EDTV modes such as 1080i, 720i and 420p. but everytime i get one to fit the LCD TV it changes my resolution on my monitor. Any help would be hugely appreciated and let me know if i've left out any vital bits of information to help you help me. Thanks, cam. |

I assume you enter the nvidia control panel (Classic mode), right-click the specific monitor/TV and select "Change resolution" ?
Or did you try a different way? http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~boldajis/images/dualview.jpg last edited by parabol at 19:22:24 09/Jan/07 |

I'd assume x64 is different but...
Windows Me, You can set different Screen Reso's for Dual Monitor setup in the Basic screen Display properties. Right Click Desktop > Properties > Settings (5th tab). Options to set reso for each screen are there o.O |

ultra mon is s***.
i run nvidia cards are work and home. 3 screens at work, 1 and a 32" lcd at home. there is a tv wizard that should detect your tv as hdmi and set it up. i do get a bit of cropping tho. |

ultramon, try that. How could Ultramon help? ultra mon is s*** I'd bet that 90% of people who have it use it solely for the second taskbar it creates. Hence, fulfilling that purpose means it is far from 's***'. Not sure what you tried to use Ultramon for ... |

Does the TV have the same display on it as the LCD?, it sounds like you've got it running Clone rather then Dual.

Ok, its all sorted now, it turns out i didnt have the "dual view" option, only clone as viper sort of suggested. So i uninstalled/re-installed my video card drivers and kaboom dual view was back again. DOH

That happens on my home PC a bit Imperial - if I start it without the extra display plugged in I only get the "clone" option. The NVidia drivers don't seem so crash hot on behaving well when a new device is plugged in, at least on the povo card I've got.
I think detecting the displays again sorted it out for me, which is kinda what would happen if you reinstalled the drivers I guess. |

i dunno about nvidia, but im pretty impressed with raedeon card in my dell lappy
its smart enough to recognise the difference between my 50" lcd tele at home and my second lcd monitor at work at home i use clone, just have to boot up and the display is cloned, at work, i extend my desktop, no dramas there either very happy |
