A bit if a news piece over here. giving some figures on GOW sales and the impact it has reportedly had on xbox.live registrations.

In addition to being the must-have video game of the holiday season, “Gears of War” continues to rage on the Xbox Live battlefield as well, with more than 1 million unique gamers engaging in 10 million online game play sessions and unlocking an impressive 7 million achievements.* On top of being the No. 1 title on Xbox Live, “Gears of War” has driven new members to the network; paid registrations per day have skyrocketed more than 50 percent since the game’s launch.

I have to admit, the more and more I play the title the Unreal 3 engine really impresses me greatly. Sometimes I sit back watching my boy raping online under my Gamer Tag and its awesome, like watching a gripping sci fi action movie. I can't wait till some new title for PC come out in the next year or so using this engine.

nb: If you play with 'Dad Da Boss' on xbox Live! and I am awesome its probably my son...hehe I am still a bit ghey with the controller...it's second nature to him. So if my gamer tag is sucking in online play...um err.. its most probably me. When are they going to release a keyboard and mouse for this damn thing!! :P

Rainbow six vegas pc is on the unreal3 engine. Chugs my 7800gtx a little on high graphics.
Dont know if i recommend buying this or SC: double agent as its painfully obvious they are both xbox360 ports. Like you cant even use 1280x1024 without 30mins of searching forums for a 3rdparty fix.
Pitty though, cause they are both really fun games, just cant get over the console shiz.

I also really want to try this game and get an xbox360 but i swore never to buy a console again after ps2/xbox disappointment. Gran Turismo 3/4 the only games that lasted me.

Guys trust me on this GOW is awesome, MP is awesome. It really is the showcase game of the xbox360, unless they can present something as jor as this. Honest;y the environments and such are just superb. Be warned though, I am running it at 1080i on a nice 86cm CRT-HDTV, with full (100w) surround sound so you mileage might vary. Actually out of all the gaming experiences I have had this would have to be very close to the top. Co-OP absolutely rules. The grittiness's and suburb structure of the environments really does bring it home. I thought the Source engine was groovey, and Cryteks latests directX10 offering looks good, but for here and now GOW wins hands down. Plus it's a s***load of fun to play as well. hehe s*** I sound like and Epic saleperson already hey. If you live near Chapel Hill and want to come try it out before you buy it then drop me a line....

p.s we d/loaded the Rainbow 6 demo and its runs very nicely on the Xbox360, I did read and article in the last 24 hrs saying that the PC version is a port (and a poor one at that) of the xbox360 code. really do need a dx10 vid card in the pc to enjoy. It looks and runs sweet on the xbox360..oh and like this article i read mentioned ...its very red.
