Topic: Space station tracking (help needed)

So a few minutes ago I was checking out where the International Space Station was and noticed it was going to fly over Australia, so I waited and took a few screenshots of the live feed figuring it'd be f***ing cool looking back at your country from space in real-time.

They did some zooming in on one patch of land when it was either over Australia or over the ocean just north-east of it. It looks suspiciously like Brisbane but the angle seems wrong for a fly-by EAST of Brisbane.

I was hoping someone with an intimate geographical knowledge of Brisbane and Stradbroke could provide an insight as to whether this is Brisbane or not. The bright sand-patches on the islands match Stradbroke Island pretty well. If it's not Brisbane, the only alternative is some patch of land in islands North-East of Australia.

Here are all the images:

Inland a bit:

Slightly to the left of previous image:

Google's satellite images for comparison:

Trajectory of ISS a few minutes before I took the shots:>

You can click and browse Google's maps in a browser without needing to download Google Earth:

Any help or answers are welcome :)

How do I track the station???

There's going to be a visible fly-over in the morning of Dec 21 (Click "Sighting opportunities"). It will only be a moving dot from our view, but cool nonetheless :P

It's about to do another daytime flyover right now (by about 2.20-25 I reckon).

You can't see it looking up, but you can look down from shuttle cam. Hopefully they'll give us a view:

So on this second flyby I figured I'd check out the latest BoM cloud images to see if I could point out specific clouds as the ISS was flying over South Australia:

yeah it looks a pretty good match, but according to that satellite path, it went no where near moreton bay.

Mmmmm it's moving at 27716km/h and steadily dropping.
Fark it moves fast across the globe.
Would be cool to be up there for about, I dunno an hour till I got bored of watching the planet go round and round :P

[edit]It just picked up speed again, go son.

Ok after messing around with Google Earth, I believe it was indeed Brisbane:

Still, it doesn't match the tracking path of the nasa page. Maybe the Earth rotated?
