Someone haxed MySpace and sent all the passwords to Bruce Schneier, who crunched the data and wrote an essay about it on Wired looking at the password habits of Internet newbs.
Common Passwords: The top 20 passwords are (in order):

password1, abc123, myspace1, password, blink182, qwerty1, f***you, 123abc, baseball1, football1, 123456, soccer, monkey1, liverpool1, princess1, jordan23, slipknot1, superman1, iloveyou1 and monkey.

[King Roland has given in to Dark Helmet's threats, and is telling him the combination to the "air shield"]

Roland: One.
Dark Helmet: One.
Colonel Sandurz: One.
Roland: Two.
Dark Helmet: Two.
Colonel Sandurz: Two.
Roland: Three.
Dark Helmet: Three.
Colonel Sandurz: Three.
Roland: Four.
Dark Helmet: Four.
Colonel Sandurz: Four.
Roland: Five.
Dark Helmet: Five.
Colonel Sandurz: Five.
Dark Helmet: So the combination is one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

President Skroob: [enters after the interrogation of King Roland] Well? Did it work? Where's the king?
Dark Helmet: It worked, sir. We have the combination.
President Skroob: Great. Now we can take every last breath of fresh air from planet Druidia. What's the combination?
Dark Helmet: 1 2 3 4 5.
President Skroob: 1 2 3 4 5? That's amazing! I've got the same combination on my luggage! Prepare Spaceball 1 for immediate departure!
Dark Helmet: Yes, sir!
President Skroob: And change the combination on my luggage!

Dark Helmet: Careful you idiot! I said across her nose, not up it!
Laser Gunner: Sorry sir! I'm doing my best!
Dark Helmet: Who made that man a gunner?
Major a******: I did sir. He's my cousin.
Dark Helmet: Who is he?
Colonel Sandurz: He's an a****** sir.
Dark Helmet: I know that! What's his name?
Colonel Sandurz: That is his name sir. a******, Major a******!
Dark Helmet: And his cousin?
Colonel Sandurz: He's an a****** too sir. Gunner's mate First Class Philip a******!
Dark Helmet: How many asholes do we have on this ship, anyway?
[Entire bridge crew stands up and raises a hand]
Entire Bridge Crew: Yo!
Dark Helmet: I knew it. I'm surrounded by a******s!
[Dark Helmet pulls his face shield down]
Dark Helmet: Keep firing, a******s!

Who would have known that Spaceballs was predicting the future US presidency.

President Skroob: Sandurz, Sandurz. You got to help me. I don't know what to do. I can't make decisions. I'm a president!

The attack was pretty basic. The attackers created a fake MySpace login page, and collected login information when users thought they were accessing their own account on the site.

Could just be people realising it's a phising site and putting in that as their password though.

Yeah but don't forget God. System operators love to use God. It's that whole male ego thing.

A password set I find really easy to remember is anything which is a set of 3 common characters in sequence (eg, abc, 123, xyz, def, qwe), followed by three random ones (eg, qky, vyv, uia, twa), followed by a two digit number.

Insert a random non-word charactor between or at the start/end of either of those blocks for good measure.

haha yeah idol - these are the passwords from newbs being suckered into phising, so you'd expect them to be dumb.

One of my passwords at work is 'f***you123' coz the c*** of a system wouldn't take any of the 'other' ones and I cracked the s***s :p

I've had to save all my passwords to a f***en spreadsheet, I dead set have logons to 20 different systems here if f***ed up irish land, in Syd I had maybe 5 different systems tops.

Crazy irish folk

Note all my online passwords are upper and lowercase with numbers and 'special' chars i.e. !,@,#,$ etc

/paranoid :p
