Hey, I'm assuming at least a few ppl on here have had insuracne claims and I'm needing some help. Yesterday a guy ran a stop sign and hit my rear door kind of hard. I'm with AAMI and the claim was fine, they said my rating wouldn't change and I wouldn't have to pay anything. However, I only just got my windows tinted about two weeks ago and didn't notify them. I know there's not a lot I can do about it now, but just so I can prepare myself, is ther any chance they can say they won't fix the rear panels and door because of the mod?
Funny thing is I did an AAMI safety driving course 4 days earlier. I miss driving my baby :( |

Was the guy who ran into insured? Maybe his/her insurance company is paying the damages and yours couldn't give a s***...

I think the only reason you tell them about stuff you modify is if it alters the structural integrity of the car, the power output or changes the value of the car/part being replaced (ie sports front bar instead of standard bumper, don't tell them and you'll probably end up with a std bumper back again I dunno)

TINTING ISN'T A MOD /THREAD According to just cars whom I spoked to about 1pm this afternoon, it is technically. I'd want to tell them about it anyway, that way they re-tint your windows in the event of an accident where a few windows get broken or whatever. |

I'd prefer not to pay a few hundred thousand dollars if I run into a jaguar, lambo or someone's house and write it off or something.
So yes. you mean, haha you're a d******* and don't have insurance? |

It is with your rego but if you want fire/theft cover as well then you have to go with an insurance co.

Third Party with rego: personal injury only
Third Party Property (with or without fire/theft): If you hit someone, their car is covered. You fix your own. Compo: Too expensive for young people. Only affordable once you hit 25 (ie under the cost of rego per year). |

I think he means compo.No. CTP - Compulsory Third Party, is in your registration which covers PERSONAL injuries to others. If you want Insurance to cover PROPERTY damage (i.e. repairs to someone else's vehicle) you need insurance. If you want coverage for fire + theft, then you also need insurance. Since, zomgz, if my car goes missing and found a burnt out wreck, I would like some money back to buy another car and the difference for fire+theft is ultimately negligable for the peace of mind, yes I do insure it. Those toranas, always catching fire n stuff ;)I'm surprised shoes haven't melted into my carpet =] Extractors get that thing f***in' hot huh. |

as if not have 3rd party property damage, even on a $100 car you bought off billy bob down at the crap shack. At least if you manage to hit a $1m maybach you're covered to a point :)
