Really good I thought - excellent action scenes.

HOWEVER!

Bad points:

-Way too long. Made worse by the s***load of commercials and trailers before the movie.
-Too complicated - who did what in the where now???
-Pickup chat STANK. Was so bad everyone was laughing.
-f***ing BIZZARE torture scene.
-No gadgets.
-No car chase.
-Cheesy product placement. f***off omega and sony.
-Maxe Sp0tted!

No gadgets? Thank f***! The last few Bond's have been an absolute f***ing disgrace with their invisible cars firing vulcan cannons at each other on ice and other utter horse s*** gadgetry. A watch laser is cool, a car with a few neat surprises is cool, beyond that it's a joke.

This was the best Bond since Goldeneye IMO but that may not be saying much. Felt like it was back to the basics of the theme, good fight scenes also. I do agree about the suckiness of the pre-movie entertainment, which went for 30 f***ing minutes, and the overly complicated plot.

I loved the movie, I thought it was excellent.

The love story and the eventual betrayal by the banker chicky babe was drawn out and I did not feel that the characters were emotionally connected.

I thought that half hour of the picture was wasted.

What a fantastic movie. Didn't miss the Gadgets because they're always bulls*** cheesy, enjoyed the new James Bond and his cool pickup lines. Thought it was a good blend of everything..... EXCEPT!!! (SPOILER ON THE NEXT LINE) As if James Bond falls in love and get duped by a bitch. Loved the shameless plugs for certain companies in the movie as well. My wallpaper is now Casino Royale Aston Martin DBS.

Will go to see it again.

no gadgets, i am so looking forward to that. i think bond went off the track ages ago when it stopped the character driven plots of old.

i want to know more about bond, not more gadgets.

I think the idea was that this is setting up his total distrust of women. My understanding is that they want to restart the franchise and as such, re-tell what we all know about Bond's pre-story.

Apparently, they didn't have Q because John Cleese hated the role.

Or the fact one of the best writers/actors in the world is being wasted on the quickest downhill franchise*

Nah I heard that they ditched John cleese in one of the earlier movies and didn't even bother telling him. So he woulda been like 'fukoff' if they asked him again.

lol @ Brutis from the Rome tv series getting the role the moneypenny equivelent :)

Was the theme song sung by the guy from Audioslave? Sure sounded like him, but I thought the song itself was s***. Liked pretty much everything else about the movie though, and thought it was the best one since Goldeneye too like someone else mentioned earlier not that that would be overly difficult. The whole romance thing was meant to be a parralel to the Casino Royale book, and I just assumed Q didnt feature cause he was only introduced later on when he was already a double0? I dunno, I used to really enjoy Bond but the last few movies soured it so much for me I really don't care anymore. I find the Bourne movies and others like it offer so much more for my action espionage fix :)

Still feels so formulaic watching it, although removing most of the retarded gadgets is a step in the right direction.

Best bond movie since golden eye.

Gadgets were there, they were just believable for a change. The movie tried to throw off the stereotypes from previous bond movies, but it was definately a bond movie. Daniel Craig worked great as a young bond in my opinion, ignore the douche bags saying he isn't if they (or you) haven't seen it yet.

The parkour scene was f***ing awesome.

Also, I think it worked better without gadgets. They just made Bond into a f***ing psychotic killing machine, rather than some poofter with a helicopter watch.

Agreed, as M says in this, 00s are meant to be blunt objects with short lifespans. not gigolos.

I liked the gadgets at times, but they were getting stupid. Invisible car. s***.

And I liked this bond girl, wasn't a complete bimbo or a villain. Agree that romance plot line at the end of the movie didn't fit in well, but Casino Royale was the first Ian Flemming James Bond book as such this is the re-invention of James Bond and some back story needs to be told.

New guy looks the part of the killer too. Have any of you f*ckers seen James Bond movies with Sean Connery? He was not a pretty man, but he was the best Bond. New guy looks a little like that.

imo, Daniel Craig is great in the role. As for the 'wierd' torture scene... you need to read the books if you think that's 'wierd'. That was tame/normal.

Bad: OMFG the DB9, it might as well have not even been in the movie.
Good: None of this pansying around with monologues hoping the guy/assassin won't shoot you.

I saw this a few weeks back in London, I loved the movie.

Things to note, it was a f***ing prequal, yet the dumb f***s had mobiles/laptops/ a not even released 2007 ford...

Daniel Craig was a bad ass bond in my opinion.

Totally agree on the length, it was a f***ing long movie when considering there was 30mins of bulls*** ads.

Still all in all, was a top movie.

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've seen, they're trying to be a bit more true to the books. I thought the books were excellent, and the movies a cheap and inaccurate copy. The first two movies were ok, then it just got silly.

The length was good, the plot wasn't complicated I followed it fine.
I didn't like how they wrote the Aston off, was a complete load of bulls***.

I saw it last night, twas the bondiest bond that ever bonded. Much much closer to the books. You could tell he used to be a soldier by the gritty way they fought. He wasn't indestructable, he made mistakes, he threw lame lines at girls and knew they were lame, women didn't swoon all over him at the drop of a hat (did anyone see Allessandra Ambrosio as he was tying his shoes?), he crashed his car...

And the way it ended was vary well done.

It didn't bother me that they had modern technology in the prequel, I could accept that. However the mentioning of September 11 was a bit off putting.

And Bond just isn't Bond unless he's wearing a Rolex. Although I don't think Brosnan wore a Rolex either.

saw it last night, agree with everyone on saying it was awesome!!

that girl is f***ING gorgeous.. never seen her before.... her acting not fully obsessed straight from the start made her hotter. the blond with the bad dude was hot as f*** too!

and the aston martin.. oh my god...

IMO maybe a tiny winy bit more gadgets would have been cool, but only as long as theyre believable. no invisible cars thanks.

oh and that married chick.. boner..

about the same as he paid for virgin atlantic jets to be the only real world brand in the airport, or smirnoff paid for the displays in the terminal to go along with there pre movie ads. nothing on ipods in blade 3 tho but the watch comment came close.

I thought this movie was fantastic. I was pleased to see Bond turn gritty. He shouldn't open doors he should kick them off their hinges. Plenty of hand to hand and none of this fancy kung fu chop s***, just hardcore fist fights.

This was a much darker human Bond and it felt more natural.

Saw it in Gold Class last night. Really enjoyed it...

Love how credible the gadgets were, bond made mistakes, the love interest f***ed him over... definitely a good set up for a re-invention of the character.

Now lets just hope they don't remake any of the old ones.

Thought it was awesome.

Casino Royale breathes new life into what was a dying franchise whilst staying true to it's roots. Craig brings a more human touch to bond whilst managing to be tougher and grittier than his predecessors.

Forget some of the more recent dumb gadgets, more like Pierce Brosnan driving around a military camp on a hovercraft killing everything in sight with an uzi being fired from the hip. The last couple of movies have been spastic.

This one was cool, not as good as it could have been, but it was a step in the right direction. Daniel Craig is a legend, he was on an interview on triple j the other day and all they talked about was the ashes.

Its currently got 8 on imdb, and generally only pretty decent movies get good ratings on imdb. Defintely worth seeing.

Nah, it was for several years afterwards - when Audioslave started it was always "the singer from soundgarden with the rage against the machine guys"

I thought that would be a bad thing until I saw their last Aus show @ the 97 BDO, and they were absolute s*** live.

Yeah it wasn't very good, but it was likely due to the problems within the band at the time - BDO was one of their last ever gigs.

I saw it last weekend and thought it was pretty good.

I liked seeing where he gets his martini from by making it up to annoy the baddy at the poker table by slowing it down by rambling off a list of ingredients and instructions like "shaken not stirred". Poker is all about edges and you do what you can to get em.

I also like how he is introduced to tailored clothes by his hottie, and his taste for married women explaining so many things :)

I got a little bored with all the scenes of bond running... i would say there was about 15 minutes of bond just running through out the movie, or maybe it just felt like it

It felt like the first book of a really good trilogy. I am really looking forward to the next 2 movies that Daniel has signed for.

8.5 / 10 from me

I also saw Branson with his arms out being checked by secruity at the airport :)
