If you have video one do you use it for video/photos?

I'm just wandering if this worth the extra $$$ for video capability.

MS Zune any good? got a bad rap from critics I heard.

Is it true you can only play itunes songs on ipod? Can you copy your current mp3 across to ipod?

Zune will only play zune bought songs right? Some s*** like that, I wouldnt touch it with a 40 foot pole.

Itunes? I dunno, But i can copy stuff off my gfs ipod no problem, and then convert to mp3. (m4a to begin with)

Personally id check out some of the creative range, better sound quality (tiny bit) and you dont have to put up with ipod.
Im waiting for the phones with 4gig+ storage, 3mp camera and mp3 jack with decent sound before i upgrade from my 30gig Nomad Zen (Creative)

I have a 1gb ipod nano and it's like perfect for my needs.

Love the interface, love the quality, loved the price, love the size, etc.

That's my mp3 player part of my life sorted.

Video on a portable device? hahaha WHY? Waste of $$$ and a waste of precious time.

*edit*

And yeah, you can copy your regular mp3s to the device. I haven't converted any of my collection. I just updated a few ID tags here and there.

I have this thing called a PC... you may have heard of it?

On a serious not I assume you mean portable mp3 device, myself nothing but my bro has a Sandisk Sansa which does video, tiny screen but he watches TV eps and movies on it at work (call centre). So I guess thats kinda alright.

It did also cost him nothing, so I guess thats alright as well :)

Nintendo DS + SuperCard mini SD + 1Gb SD card

Nintendo DS sound chip kinda sucks, and it looks retarded pulling a DS out to fidle with music, but it's just a temp job while I wait for the gen 6 iPods.

Got a Video ipod. I usually use it to watch music clips I download but it kills the battery so fast (Something like 2 hours with the backlight on). Converting movies into mp4 is a pain in the ass so I hardly ever do that. I mainly just use the 30GB for music and never use the photo viewer so basically I should have bought a non-flashy mp3 player.

Alize` converting movies is a pain ?

How so ?
WinAV mp4 converter and Videora Ipod Converter are 2 products that make the task as simple "What files do you want to convert?"

And Videora is free ... http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/

zune will play mp3s, it just won't play music bought from itunes (but who does that anyway?)

I've got an iPod 20Gb Photo

Had it since about september last year, still going strong, though I'd like a video one with more space :(

pc + panasonic head unit.

I bought the Panasonic HU for $200 from JB's about 3yrs ago. Would have to be the best $200 I've ever spent.

Fit like 7 albums on 1 disk, countless mp3's too. No need to leave my good cd's in the car for some arsewipe to steal.

I use an iPod video, the price was good for the size and I use video podcasting on the train a lot.

I was pondering a Creative Zen though which looks damn fine.

You can easily convert songs from MP3, iTunes does it for you even.

^^ Last time I used it, YES.

What I want to know is, can all these non-iPod devices play iTunes encoded music (m4a's)????

the real question is why would anyone in their right mind encode s*** into m4a in the first place

Anyone heard anything about the new Sony mp3 players for running? They look quite decent but again I dont know if they could play m4a's:( They look just like the Sony MD remote controls which were quite good.
http://www.sony.com.au/objects/600x400/NWS203FB600x400.jpghttp://www.sony.com.au/walkman/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=30333#
Key features

* Stylishly compact and lightweight design
* Splash-proof Body and Headphones
* Supplied Arm Band
* Built-in Pedometer
* Built-in Distance & Calorie Counter
* Stopwatch
* Music Pacer
* Shake Shuffle
* FM Tuner
* Rapid Recharge

You get 3hrs of battery life from 3mins of charging... pretty decent. Its exercise features look really good compared to iPod's Nike +. Sony's changes music automatically to suit your pace - I don't think iPod's do that?? Wonder how accurate it would be cause if it worked well that's something I'd f***in love!

Damn:/
Music: Formats Supported

* Supports: MP3 CBR (Constant Bit Rate)
* Supports: MP3 VBR (Variable Bit Rate)
* Supports: WMA (Unprotected)
* Supports: ATRAC3
* Supports: ATRAC3plus
* Supports: AAC (Unprotected)

Wtf am I meant to do with all these converted m4a tracks? Can iTunes convert to mp3?

I got some 256mb Conia thing from a Holden promo... works perfect for my needs.

Sucks that it only has a "Back / Foward" buttons for scrolling through stuff, pretty brutal considering there's a 1 second delay or so for each track to load up.

billy, don't you have all the original MP3's that went into itunes?

Unless you ripped cd's using itunes...

also that sony thing looks pretty decent.

The new CD's I buy I rip with iTunes. Why wouldn't I? (I guess because they convert to smelly, smelly m4a).
