Age of conan!
Props to Rubba who showed me this.

13.1 Will players be able to build cities in Age of Conan?
Yes, there is a complete system in place for allowing guilds to build entire cities, and there will be both PvP cites (or battlekeeps as well call them) and cities found in areas where you can not PvP. Once a guild is rich and powerful enough, it will be able to purchase a piece of land and start building a settlement. The process will, of course, take anywhere from days to weeks and months, and all the members of the guild will have to work together to reach this goal. If you would like more information on PvP cities please check out the PvP and siege section of the FAQ.

Also includes - Realtime combat, no more clicky clicky 'it's all about teh gear' like WoW.
3 Races to play.
Mounted combat on horseback plus loads more.
Uses DX10 so it looks s***hot too:

Will be keeping an eye on this one, it has potential to be awesome =]

Die WoW, you POS!

typo: It's still pre-beta I believe.

But being able to build entire cities is pretty cool.

Yeah there has been a fair amount of hype come out about this game surrounding the combat system which is meant to be pretty good.
Game looks quite pretty.
Heh, that 4th screenshot looks just like Vivec from Morrowind.

I would have thought real time would involve an ass load of more clicking compared to WoW's click once and let the computer do the rest until you wanna add in the next combat move.

Looks nice though. Been reading up about this in PC Powerplay and I think it's something like from lvl 1 - 10 you are by yourself in single player mode before you can start going multi. Something to do with learning skillz and s***.

Rev:

From what I understand it's more like "die by the sword" (oldschool game if you ever played it)...

For example, swinging a sword will have 6 different directions you can swing it.
Swing it in such a way that it hits two people and you deal damage to both.

Gallop on a horse into someone and swing with the right motion at the right time and deal big damage.

Oh, it also supports "formations", so large guild battles (or PvE), the leader will be able to set posititions for people to stand and create a formation.
You don't have to stand there or can 'break out of formation' whenever you want.

Still all seems pretty cool.

LOL

WoW was fun while it lasted though, discovering new areas and s***. But once you did all that it got hard to motivate yourself to keep playing. I'm sure the same thing will happen with this but until that happens this game sounds f***ing awesome.

^ I agree with ya matey.

I played WoW as well, first time I got bored when I hit 60 and got sick of running instances for blue set gear (lawl).

Second time, on Barthilas, I got bored of running BWL/MC/ZG etc.
I don't like the way raids forced you to devote so much time in one sitting to get anywhere (or run a raid 50234902 times to actually get anything).

Looks like a nice new game, will be good to see something different to WoW on the market.

I still like WoW but the raiding is bollocks which is why I've stopped it. I'm just in it for PvP and some light entertainment. I've done my fair share of the high-end instances and just can't be f***ed anymore. Especially if the quests you can get when BC comes out will have rewards which will s*** on the current purple shinies.

Speaking of which, if there's any guilds on FM that need a mage with shiny purples and are a bit relaxed about raiding, then PM me :)

I assume, Loki, that wow is the only mmo you've ever played?

Theres mmo's out right now, which have real-time combat and don't look s***, like this.

Also, It's funny how people say 'LOL WOW KILLER'. You're just dumb. Nothing is going to kill wow, not for years. EQ was the only mmo to play, until wow killed it... like 7? 10 years after it came out.

Your going to need something huge to beat wow, and its not going to come from some no-name company making yet another fantasy mmo.

EQ isn't dead yet.

Notice how wow isn't even on that scale?

I should of chosen my words better, obviously these games aren't going to die. It's just funny how they were all peaking around the time WOW came out, and looking at JAN-05 which was only 1 month after wow came out, how huge the decline was.

It will take a while to get WoW from the top seeing as it's amazingly easy to get into, system specs are low and the reward system is a son-of-a-bitch and keeps you coming back for more.

WoW only appears on the 120,000+ chart :)

Sorry, I wasn't attacking you, I was kinda re-enforcing your point, nothing is going to kill WoW for some time to come.

I mean if EQ, in all of it's s***tyness, is still a viable success with 200,000 people playing it, WoW is going to have long legs. Of course, WoW has thousands of servers world wide, when their decline happens - and it will - it's going to hurt them. Server merges shall be fun.

Yeah, no.

Been playing them since I was basically in Primary School or just in Highschool.

UO/EQ/WoW/CoH/DAoC as the mains.

By death I mean a large portion of the player base leaves for a new game, people still play UO and pay to play that and EQ but they are really, for all intents and purposes "dead" as they're not the heebyjeebies of latest s*** out there redefining the way gameplay is done and bringing new s*** to the table.

So yeah, with being able to build cities a decent combat system and so on, hopefully this does bring about the death of WoW as "the god almighty of MMO's" when really, WoW is probably one of the s***test MMO's.

I agree with Rev, WoW started out cool as hell and addictive, but it gets very lame, very quickly.

WoW is a easy game to get into and brings "fun" to the masses.
Probably explains why there's so many f***en retards and dead s***s in the game, not unlike CS.

HUR HUR HUR got BITTER?!

It maybe a crap game but still fun as f*** to kill s***.

Also considering WoW is still kinda new compared to many other MMORP's. There are still bugs to exploit, like the early days of CS. TEE HEE ^__^

I'm not holding my breath for Conan. Many MMOs sound awesome in development and fall flat on their faces at release due to terrible implementation and massive technical issues.

Warhammer Online is being developed by Mythic so I reckon the chances of it turning out well are much higher, with them already having mature MMO tech and experience. Their ideas behind the PvP already sound very promising, and DAoC RvR combat sounds really fun which I'm guessing will be their foundation.

http://www.huxleygame.com/ huxley is the only mmo i could maybe be possibly bothered paying a monthly subscription fee for. it looks like it could be sweet but will probably end up crap just like every other mmo game.

p.s. you can build bug cities in star wars galaxies and that game still sucks

I'll admit that EA owning mythic did scare me, but I'm hoping that Games Workshop can force a good game out of it.

Funcom isn't 'some no name c***s'. Although they are rather infamous for creating Anarchy Online.

The reason why CS is that it caters to the lowest common denominator. i.e. no-skill retards.

That being said, so is WoW :)

Conan is probably older than half of the forum. Same with Wahammer.

Not to mention that Warcraft basically stole Warhammer, in a crappy half-arsed way to boot.

So? Warcraft wasn't a MMORPG before hand either.

The Warcraft licence wasn't, IMO, the major selling point. I mean, if successful gaming licences was key to producing a popular MMO, blizzard would have created World of Starcraft.

IMO, I'd suggest that people bought onto hype from the combination that World of Warcraft was produced by Blizzard, fanboi/uber guild hype and the general user hype of how beautiful, easy and how intuitive to play. I

warcraft still has the better fantasy environment, which you can't disagree in saying is perfect for a mmporg

and everyone already has their favourite race and or characters from playing warcraft 1/2/3

A better fantasy environment than what? Conan or Wahammer?

Warcraft 1 was a pretty average game all things considered. What race/class combo’s surived the transition from rts to mmorpg? Human Paladin, Orc Shaman and Night Elf Druid … wooo

Lets forget the fact that all the races, locations, classes, important NPCs and lore progression were initially drawn from the RTS games.

I didn't base my argument on warcraft 1. I just said it was an average game. The other points were war2 & war3.

The lore background of warhammer dwarfs anything that warcraft has managed to vomit up recently. Lol lore pew pew pew

You made a point which suggested, I assumed, that warcraft made a good choice for a MMO because of a bunch of lore, race, class issues. My counter claim is that Warhammer owns anything that has been implemented by Warcraft, unless it is something that Blizzard 'borrowed' from Warhammer.

While Warhammer fantasy isn't my choice of Warhammer products, it's lore, style, essence, classes, key characters, major opponents and gods makes Warcrafts equivalents shallow.

They are almost the same game, except humans don't have power armour and guns. Ok, the almost part really makes a huge difference, 40k is awesome sauce.
