Sorry, bit of a noob but while playing cs source the graphics started stuffing up like green pixels starting flashing all over the place and then the whole screen froze. I opened up my comp and saw the fan had blown out on the video card so I bought a new fan and fixed it but the same symptoms are happening and actually kills the computer quicker than before... Is it the video card, the installation of the fan or PSU?

Is it the video card Whether you have an Nvidia or ATI card, download ATITool and tell us the temperature of the card. Also run "Scan for Artifacts" to check for problems. http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ |

Most likely the videocard is rooted, I'd say when you saw those green artifacts the damage cause was permanent.
Time for a new videocard! Remeber to clean your system out more regularly :) |

My x1300 does that whole green screen freeze computer thing in here, so I figured it must be rooted to slapped it in my other pc & it happily plays cs for ages. f*** you compatibility issues (asus motherboard, co-incidence? I think not).

^ BIOS update The bios in my other machine is like 100 years old, it's a p3 866mhz on a CUSL2 motherboard. This one is a p4c800, much newer & shouldn't require a BIOS update. Besides, the only thing that doesn't work is the x1300 so I'm not going to f*** with the BIOS, potentially screw up the rest of my PC just to get something working that shouldn't need a BIOS update. IN short, f*** you asus, f*** you ATI. now back on topic. |

What asus board is it? You do realise BIOS flashes often address compatability issues, more commonly RAM but its not out of the question.
Flashing boards these days is pretty easy, with Asus you can actually do it through windows. Yes there still is a small risk but it is virtually impossible to flash a board with an incorrect BIOS as there are checks in place to stop you now. Really you are only gonna have problems if you yank the power/pc crashes during flash or your BIOS chip is rooted. |
