Ahoy hoy.. anyone here have any experience with getting canon cameras (not professional) repaired out of warranty? Like where to take for repairs.. and costs involved.

My canon A75 is on the fritz. When taking a photo, the display is all dark and the screen flickers with random horizontal lines. Also, because it thinks its dark (when its not) it makes the flash fire at full power. The horizontal lines also show on pictures, and pictures have a yellowish tinge. :S yeah.. its about to die.

Would I be better off getting it repaired or just buying a new one? As a lot of s*** like this seems pretty disposable these days.

i had my 20D serviced and repaired (broken lens), cost £200.

riotus... iirc thats something to do with the sensor... probably fatal. I think you'll find that the repair agents will be on the canon website.

eww powershot a75. I have one of those and I dislike it, though it's good for taking happy snaps of stuff quickly half the time the autofocus doesn't. I've dropped it a couple of times too, still works (it never did focus that well on far away stuff so dropping it wasn't the cause :p)

Yeah? I love it.. except its a bit bulky.. thats my only complaint. ... oh and the fact that its dying. ha.
