Activision are getting into the Steam bandwagon with today's announcement: Activision, Inc and Valve® today announced an agreement to distribute four of Activision's PC games -- Call of Duty® 2, GunT, Call of Duty® and Call of Duty® United Offensive® -- using Steam. |

Cool, now that steam is stable and running smoothly I reckon it rocks for purchasing games.

There's insufficient discounting of titles though. They maintain them at a premium price. I remember going to purchase HL1 again at some stage near HL2s release and it was 3x more expensive on steam than at my local EB.

I preordered HL2 + HL1 + all mods + everything on the valve back catalog for 70 bucks. Compare that with pre ordering hl2 at EB.

It does end up being cheaper for us (usually) because we get f***ed over with the cost of our games. A $50US PC game we generally get for $90, whereas buying it through steam we pay $50US or $66AU - a saving of $24AU!!
