Well for any of you in a rush, Ticketek was by far a better option as far as i'm concerned...the official BDO site was laggy as f*** for me, but ticketek was quick and easy

Sydney is sold out, but I would assume Gold Coast would still be ok.
Surprising as the line up is fairly weak, although Tool alone would probably put half the numbers through the door. |

$120 is a bit steep on the $100 for last year.
Think I might save my money and just goto fieldayze and bbq breaks on new years day! |

I'd like to know how you can call 12 hours entertainment for $120 expensive?
There will be at least 6 bands I will *want* to see If you see a side show you'll eb paying $70 just to see one band, granted the sound will be better AND they will play a longer set, but f*** me there is an assload of musical acts on show for 12 hours and it's only $120 for a ticket - stop whinging... again, granted, the day will cost a bomb on drugs (yes alcohol is a drug, so nerr). |

Just wanted to give this a quick bump...
The BDO organisers are doing a ticket ballot in Sydney to try to circumvent scalping to a degree. Here is their Press Release about it For those who don't want to read it, the two key bits of information in the release... With 45,000 tickets for the Sydney Big Day Out snapped up in a few hours we have held back the final 10,000 for sale over the next ten weeks in ballot form. and then... Selling tickets for higher than the face value is a breach of the conditions of sale. Tickets sold on auction sites will be declared invalid and the ticket holder will be refused entry. You have been warned. So, how even though BDO will be selling them for ABOVE face value this is ok? How is this different to people selling them on eBay? Perhaps they were pissed they weren't getting a cut of the juicy resale pie. Scalping sucks, and they are doing their best to legitimise it. Yeah that was me dude. That's actually where I first heard about it.
I know being Sydney it doesn't really have much to do with me, but I get pretty passionate about this sort of thing. It's kinda weird that I care this much, as I leave for London in 12 days and won't even be attending this one, which will be the first one I have missed since I started going back in 97. But still, it's BDO, and why should some people have to pay more than others... |

Next year's lineup didn't really appeal to me all that much :/
One group whose music I don't necesarily like but want to see live is the chemical brothers. I heard they go off and do a totally awesome show. Anybody experienced it? |

Yeah if you are into beats you would probably dig em. Their set at BDO last year (or was it this year?) was pretty damn good. But by that stage I'm usually knackered and can't be stuffed trying to cram into the same tent as 30000+ other people so have to listen to it from up the hill a bit.
I don't think Basement Jaxx are going to play this year, as they are doing a new years eve/day show in Sydney, so it would seem strange to hang around for 3 weeks doing nothing. Hopefully they get some hot acts for announcement #2, as it's fairly tame at this stage. |

chemical brothers last time was super average (2005)
i want my boiler room closer to bring the house down chemical brothers wasted a lot of their set time with long, slow, boring rinse outs waste ps, this was a cool site, listing all of the previous acts made me sad looking back through all the previous years, thinking of the fun ive had http://www.bigdayout.com/history/pastlineups.php#2003 |

why should some people have to pay more than others. I actually don't have a problem with this. While I think it will really have very little effect on combating scalping, I see no reason why the organisers can't charge whatever they want for addmission. There's other events that offer cheaper prices for early-bird purcahsers so why not BDO? They've just called it something else. |

I just think its deceptive in the way they have done it after the event had been called a "sell out". If they had have announced from the allocation from the start it might have been ok, but I just think they have seen them sell out and go straight onto ebay yet again so decided they would get in on it.
The organisers reckon the extra money will be used for extra fencing and artists, but again I would assume they would have planned for all these things in the initial ticketing costing. |

Has anyone received tickets they bought online from Ticketek yet? Other concert tickets purchased from ticket a few weeks after BDO arrived on Friday. Getting slightly worried because of that and the fact the credit card bill is due and I have nothing to show for it.
In other news, read today in JMAIL that the second annoucemnt is due on Wednesday. Listen to J and the Dr for news or just check this thread. |

So long as you put all your details in it will be sweet. They might be doing what the Splendour guys did and do them in one mass mail-out.
Or a hobo may have stolen them from your letterbox. Either way, someone will enjoy them. PS - just read the Good Vibes line up. Looking pretty good if you are a hip hop fan, athough bummer about it not being at the riverstage. |

Since announcing the first round of BIG DAY OUT artists for the 2007 series, tickets have been snapped up at record speed. If you have been waiting around till the second announcement before you purchase tickets, wait no longer! Below you’ll find the next round of International acts and Antipodean touring artists who will be rocking the stage at each BIG DAY OUT. oh man... i am so underwhelmed by this. last edited by riot'us at 01:44:59 08/Nov/06 |

Heh, what a s***ty lineup. Well okay, maybe not s***ty, but not a whole lot I'm interested in seeing live.
Trivium are a guilty pleasure of mine though so hopefully they're not on until later in the day and my plan of spending the morning at the beach before seeing TOOL can still go ahead. Still, so many boring indie and generic rock bands that while I don't mind listening to a few of them, have absolutely no desire to see a live performance of. |

Trivium are a guilty pleasure of mineditto, got their live at rock am ring performance on dvd which is excellent only beef is that I wish matt heafy would concentrate more on singing and less on screaming, it's the only downside of their music :( |
