At 1:35 PM , Bureau of Meteorology weather radar detected severe thunderstorms south of Toowoomba. These thunderstorms are moving towards Laidley to the northeast. Severe thunderstorms are forecast to affect the area south of Helidon by 2:05 PM and Gatton, Mulgowie and Laidley by 2:35 PM .

Large hailstones and damaging winds are possible.

We've got some pommies in the office who have never been in a storm before (an one the girlies is pretty cute)

Witnesses 3 accidents this afternoon.

i drove right through it on the way back from the sunshine coast it was so intense there was just half really dark half a bit lighter.. as we drove into it it got darker and darker and im just like wtf then all of a sudden bam it hit us pissing down really heavily was going about 70kms an hour on the highway

Did anybody see that lightning strike at about 8:00 - 8:30pm which forked all the way across the city skyline? I was in an apartment in Paddington with a clear view and saw it go from over Southbank, fork over the CBD with one fork grounding over towards Herston and the other heading skywards. Was absolutely massive.
