Have a mate that spilled a whole glass of red wine into his acer notebook, (It was Cape-Mentelle Zinfandel if you must know - quite a good, different grape if anyone is interested) anyway, motherboard is f***ed.

Took it to the acer genuine place, because I told him that there's not really many options, since it will be the board.

Now I expected it to be expensive, but they've quoted $600ex for the motherboard alone, which sounds a bit rich (LB.A806.001). Is there any way I can check the "RRP" of a replacement board ? Or do I tell him to just bend over?

$600ex is probably a good price. your not going to get much better than that.

One of my mates payed $800 (parts and labour) to get a second hand motherboard installed in his laptop to replace the borked one. He of course shopped around and that was teh best deal he could find. So yeah, $600 for a brand new mobo (with new warranty I assume) sounds fairly credible to me.

Yeah they said that it only had a 3 week warranty on the labour, so I'm not sure if he will get the balance of the new warranty, oh well

Thanks for your advice c***s
