Was reading the news, and saw this. now, is this an unfortunate photo, or is the poor girl effected by down syndrome or some such?

I think you missed the part in the article that said:
Lauren Huxley was beaten, doused in petrol, and left for dead in a brutal attack in her Sydney home

news.com.au has been great with the unfortunate pics lately - the one of Dean Jones yesterday looked like he was midway through s***ting his pants.

hey, cool it.

i wasn't making fun of the poor girl at all, as i wholeheartedly feel sorry for her after the experience that she had, but rather stating that it was a rather unfortunate photo on the behalf of the media and i would have thought that the media, who was covering the story of such a brave girl, would have used a better photo.

basically, i was going "what's up there?"

so there's no need,nf, spook and qmass, to be giving me a hard time, as ticman said, news.com.au has been having some wierd photos lately.

From what I can tell the shot was taken of her up on stage - maybe receiving said award??

and she looks like that because the skin has been melted away and now it is taut.

Bad taste thread and I like the OP :)

kat, skin cannot 'melt' so that is not why she looks like that.

It would be becuase the burns would have killed most of the flesh on her face and the best the surgeon could do was that. Even if the skin was still there, and not completely burnt away it would be like when an egg is cooked. The protein structure changes and it goes from being maliable and elastic to... not. - its called denaturation. (I dont know anything about plastic surgery though so what they leave and what can regenerate is beyond me.)

well the difference is that I dont think it was a result of the skin 'melting' I think its the best a surgeon can make it look after removing most of the dead s*** and grafting skin back in... so thats 2 different things.

cause he was aiming for scientific accuracy by calling it melting

Fun fact!

Getting burns to over 50% of your body doesn't kill you, but eventually your kidneys can't handle all the work they have to do and you die a few days later from kidney failure.

that and the chance of infection is so exponentially high that youll probably die of whatever the f*** you picked up.

True dat.

Also if you decide to leave this world via something like panadol, you will get to the hospital, get your stomach contents removed and be ok enough to think "I'm going to live!". Then you will die 5 days later from liver failure. But think of the attention you will get!

The moral of the story is to be good to your body.

so the moral of the story is to shoot yourself on a webcam?
