Construction company I work for wants to set up a good looking webpage, that would mainly be brocureware but would be fairly easy for people to update/add material too. Can anyone recommend a company/person that would do a proffesional job?

A friend of a friend runs Bluewire Media at Ashgrove. Got them to do a site for a company I work for and was quite happy with them.

We used this guy for our site.
www.nutshellcreative.com.au He's great to work with and very good value. Our site btw is www.steelformstructures.com.au Its not over flash, but does a the job and it comes with built in tools so a noob like me can edit it with ease. |

www.nutshellcreative.com.auOh christ, don't go to this guy Edit: HAHAHA I just noticed the hidden keywords on the bottom of his site (highlight it all) I'm sure that'll help him rise the ranks of google until he gets banned for trying to fool the system I mean last edited by Hashy at 18:41:09 18/Jul/06 |

Snapsoft looks very professional. Their designs are pretty clean and they've got their own proprietry content management interface.
The markup of thier site is pretty clumsy though, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that does much better here. If they're reasonably priced it's a pretty safe bet imo Also note that it's physically impossible to even navigate http://www.bluewiremedia.com.au/ in Firefox laffo. I didn't even bother to look at their portfolio after that. last edited by Hashy at 19:03:03 18/Jul/06 |

No, I've never seen or heard of him before you posted and I can't comment on his service or his end-user updating system but I think everything else he does is pretty poor. Also, ctrl+A his homepage then read this. Someone who commits acts like these isn't fit to be professionally designing sites for businesses, but that's just my opinion.

Make a page in MS Word then save it as HTML.
Or check out Whirlpool, they regularly have a "Look at my awesome new site" e-peen contest between members. |

I read that as a "youre years are disproportionate to your life experience" compliment from Heardy. Greazy you just display your ignorance as if it were something to be proud of with your last post.
imho of course :P |

I read that as a "youre years are disproportionate to your life experience" compliment from Heardy.Well the fact that I've never imparted anything much on this forum, particularly this thread, that could be construed as "knowing alot" I think it was ripe with sarcasm and probably just an excuse to point out my age. Could be wrong. |

depending on what your after, i could do it. i can't do a big backend with application support, user & employee functionality, etc... simply because i don't have the time. but for something fairly basic, (something in your oppinion could be nocked up in 2 days.) then i could? (er, and a 2 day might turn into 1 week if you want it in .asp :/)

First quote just came in at $40,000 :) I'm thinking we will be waiting too see some of the other prices that come in lol.
Just basically has to be a site that shows a portfolio of construction work completed/being worked on and also allows forms for prospective sub-contractors to apply to be put on a tender list and various other content. Seems hard to find mobs though that have a decent middle ground price wise as well as design. Alot of the stuff out there looks really amatuerish imo, with us pretty much passing on any 'company' that has templates for pages as part of their work portfolio. |

Ah, yep. Good choice for Revo :) Go with us, we just recently finished developing a big site (very similar to a trading post type website), hand developed by my team to perfection at a price that will boggle your mind. Specializing mainly in PHP,sql, xhtml, css, jscript and a smidge of AJAX if you're after something extra.
We have professional affiliates with development companies that contract us work on a frequent basis, so a fine testimonial from one of my contacts will stop you looking further in your seek for a developer. :) Give me a bell on tawney@revo.com.au mate last edited by intrik at 22:20:49 19/Jul/06 |

Hashy sure has alot of experience for someone whose never been paid $1 to make oneHaha, putting the ass in assume. I've done web development professionally as part of another job, but hated it with a passion because to work to the time restrictions I had I was churning out crud. As a result, no you're not seeing any of it. I also fail to see I need to be a professional web developer to help out a non-professional web developer pick a professional web developer, but I guess that's irrelevant because you were wrong, f*****. First quote just came in at $40,000 :)Haha christ, who was this from? last edited by Hashy at 22:21:50 19/Jul/06 |
