A beta of the Quake 4 DeltaCTF mod has been released, offering a new taste on Capture the Flag in Raven's Quake 4. The DeltaCTF team has found the default Capture the Flag gametype present in Quake 4 to be devoid of many key game features and design elements which the CTF community has come to love and depend on for over a decade. This foundation created over the years by community created a well-recognized gametype where in Quake reached its peak during the era of Q2CTF. Over the years the degradation of this gametype has lead to the current crisis where the Quake CTF Community no longer has a playground to play in. Delta CTF hopes to resolve this by implementing those features in which CTF fans desire to see once again in Capture the Flag.Check out the feature list for more information. If you haven't given up on Quake 4 yet, you can grab the mod locally and jump online to check it out. |

hi.. i seem to be getting really high pings on the game arena server ... like 300 -999
any ideas as to what the issue may be ? .... i've only got the 1.2 update for q4 ... but very weird getting high pings... not normal for me for game arena. |

have you checked your pings to the other ga servers? might not be quake 4 related
also, i've added these commands to my autoexec cfg for q4: seta "com_allowConsole" "1" seta "con_speed" "1000" seta "g_fov" "115" seta "r_ambientlightonly" "1" seta "pm_zoomslow" "30" fov 115 i've found is like 110 in q2 r_ambientlightonly is for people who want more fps (like vertex lighting in q3) and zoomslow down to 30% makes the mouse sensitivity while in zoom feel right ... but play around with it and see what you like last edited by dice at 01:26:04 14/Jul/06 |

the verdict is that with more good maps and a couple of tweaks that will no doubt be fixed in the newer versions, this is the best CTF mod ever made with ease
it basically feels like q3 but with the things q3 lacked from q2 awesome game, i'd never play q2ctf again now that i've got this ... also, the makers say they've got 16 new maps coming out with next release (or 10, pretty sure they said 16), should be interesting, especially if they remake as2m7 like everyone is asking for |

Wow, good stuff. It wins simply for the fact that they ungayed the Q4 movement physics. It all flows really well.
This appears to be the new Quake CTF a lot of people have been waiting for, imo. |

hey, not really expecting anyone to be able to help but if possible.. that would be fantastic
for some reason, only in quake 4 as soon as i join a server my ping skyrockets and my FPS goes to 1.. however locally its perfect. Also quake 2/3/hl2 are all fine online. It doesnt matter on what server I play either, always f***s up. I thought it might be something to do with my wireless but considering all other online games are perfect i am not so sure. Thanks! |

nats:
i didn't know there was autoswitch when you pick up weapons? are you sure you're not just out of ammo or something? bad: one of the coders for delta (and q4max) is saying -
so apparently on a local server(made on your computer) it's not going to use as much cpu as when you're connecting to another (have you tried making a dedicated server on another system and connecting to that? you should see the same problem from what this guy says) ... this has been optimised in q4max so you won't have the same problem there. so you might just want to wait for the next release (which isn't too far off) when it should be fixed until then, you can give this low settings cfg a go if you like ... just exec it in game (all key binds and the unbindall command have been taken out, but back up your config anyway) and see how it goes http://vr.qgl.org/low.cfg place in deltactf folder of course |
