Greetings Gronks,

I've just downloaded a legit version of windows xp through uni to replace my pirated version of win xp pro.

Since this my current cracked version of xp doesnt seem to have the activation wizard i'm after a utility that will allow me to enter in the new cd key and activate it without having to reinstall windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

Editing the registry
Begin by opening the Registry Editor and navigating to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

In the right pane, right-click the ODBETimer binary value and select Modify. Change at least one character of this value to either a number from 0 to 9 or to a letter from A to F, then click OK and close the Registry Editor. This renders the current product key invalid and deactivates Windows.

Now, it’s time to reactivate Windows using your new product key. Click Start | Run and enter the command:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe /a

where %systemroot% is your Windows directory. In many cases, this command will look like:
C:\windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a

At this point, Windows will launch the Product Activation Wizard.

Select the option to telephone a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows, as shown in Figure A, and click Next. Now, select the Change Product Key option and enter your new product key as shown in Figure B. Finally, click Update and close the window. If Windows returns you to the previous screen, just select the Remind Me Later option. When the wizard is finished, reboot the system.

That might work :)

Give this a shot: http://www.upload2.net/page/download/ifFCianXGZmwG1P/keyfinder.exe.html

I can't really see why this is illegal... all it does is let you view and supposedly change your key... but if it is nuke away.

I haven't actually used it to change a key, just view them but it does have the change option.

BTW this isnt just some random .exe I found on the net, its from my lil baggie of tools I use working as a tech.

PM me your email address Booyah and I'll send you the Windows Key Update Tool I got when I upgraded my system a couple of months back. It scans your pc to make sure you have no corrupt files then asks for your new XP key.

Rubba and skitza i'll give tanak's one a shot cause the scanning for files sounds good but if not i'll use that keyfinder.

Tanaka pm'd.

rightclicksaveas

This is a simple keyviewer and XP key changer. Uses a M$ script too so there is [as far as I know] no legality issues.
