Hi Fellow QGL'ers, i bring to you good news!
A great new lan is about to happen in brisbane, read on for the information :)

"What is MotherLAN?", you ask...

MotherLAN is a joint venture of the Lanvictims and SwitchLAN gaming communities.

"Why the hell would you bother?"

You may have noticed that there have been no truly *big* LAN events in Brisbane for quite some time. By hosting these joint events, we hope to bring back the huge LAN's a lot of you may remember from the days of old. On a more personal level, the whole point behind the joint LAN event idea is to introduce the gamers of one LAN community to that of another.

Both the admin teams of SwitchLAN and Lanvictims have put a great deal of time and effort into organising this event, so we really do hope it takes off!

"So what's in store for us at MotherLAN?"

The very best elements of both host LAN's all rolled into one! The network will be 100% gigabit (with 10/100's as backups), with a trunked backbone (no lag!); we'll be hosting heaps and heaps of comps (DOTA, Q3, UT2k4, just to name a few - see the proposed timetable down further) and we'll be running the LAN all weekend!

Good speeds, good games, great people. What more could you ask for?

"But where are you?"

As stated above, we're running the event at the SwitchLAN venue, which is the Nudgee International College Auditorium. Nudgee International College is situated on the same campus as St Josephs Nudgee College, at Boondall.

Finding the St Josephs campus is the easy part. Finding the International College has proven quite difficult to others in the past. When you enter the campus grounds via Sandgate Road, you will drive past the running track. You should see a green building behind the running track. This is the Bingo Hall. Nudgee International College is located *behind* the Bingo Hall. The image below should give a more detailed view of the Campus Map.

The details for this colossal event are:

TBA

"Will this event count towards Lanvictims' Uber Prize?"
Why yes it will.

getting picked up by the school's security and arrested for tresspassing is bad...plus, we dont let you get out anyways :P so it would involve breaking windows and stuff

sleeping on the floor is fine, i believe weve got a room setup for ppl to sleep in, sleeping at PC's is usually fine as well, but if you snore, expect to be woken up -_-

oh, and these LV guys are actually serious about collecting $2 for non-registered ppl, so for all of you regular switchlan guys that know we're too lazy, you better register this time ^_^

gameserve is an entirely gaming event, leeching is banned. which means for games its awesome, for free stuff (other than prizes) it sucks.

game serve is on the GOLD COAST!

motherlan is on the NORTHSIDE of brisbane..

so were unlikely to be clashing that much... if motherlan was on the southside then yes, i could see that some people might goto 1 or the other. But this is over a hour and a bit drive between them..

if there to lazy to register, they can be chared an extra $2...

this is just so we know how many people are going, so we odnt plan for 40 and get 100 :) that type of thing. Unless you put a $ value on it.. people usually dont bother registering.

Why do you have to be an idiot? Its clearly an event.

Im going to need a lift, if anyone lives around the Mansfield area and is going to the lan, it would be great if they could pick me up.

To take part in the dota comp do you need a team or is it gonna be random teams or good ol' 1v1's?

A rundown of the competitions would be nice.
