im pissed
really f***ing pissed if u ever needed a reason to boycott Indo, him being released after only serving 2 years for killing so many Australians is it straight out of prison, and straight back to inflamatory comments about Australia and Australians how the fcuk can a country sleep at nite, when people are getting LIFE for drug offenses (f***ing piddly little minor offenses in teh scheme of things), yet someone who incites followers to blow up innocent australians, gets a paltry 2 years in jail it makes my f***ing blood boil |

I hate to say it spook but it was hardly surprising, it is much the same for our own rich and politically powerful people who go to jail here on serious crimes and getting a slap on the wrist whilst the small time guy who did something questionable gets the short end of the stick.
No justice system is without reproach. |

I think you'll find the people who they can prove were involved with the bombing are getting the firing squad, where they can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that Bashir was directly involved. I'd say its a fairly decent justice system, and I'm pretty sure his inflammatory comments are earmarked under 'free speech'.

in australia we don't lock up people for holding radical views, why should indonesia?
only serving 2 years for killing so many Australians is it you'll find that the perpetrators of the bombing received death sentences or life imprisonment. his association to the bombing itself was alledged tacit approval to amrozi to carry out the attack. understand this evidence was weak at best, and probably would not have held up within an australian court. |

Erm Do you guys even know what he did? One of his underlings came up to him and said, "We're planning on doing something in Bali", to which he replied, "Do what you have got to do". That is what he was convicted for, do you even think he would see jail time in Australia for that? I'm no lawyer but I doubt it. |

It's not a statement it is a word.
If these people were underlings like you said, then he is somewhat responsible for their actions, like a manager or whatever at a workplace is responsible for employees actions. If I went up to my boss and said "hey should I put some cyanide in the post mix machines?" and he said "do what you have to do", don't you think he would be in some trouble? |

I think we should realise that Australia has no respect with them. A lot of people in this place think we are worthy of demanding respect. We really are delusional in this place, if it wasn't for our relationship with the States it would be worse. No offence guys but do you think our opinion matters to them, I doubt it very much. And let’s face it this country is over flowing with apathy and we will be over it in seconds. That’s why we have never had a civil war because we are too lazy (NOT LAID BACK). Our politician’s bank on us not caring about anything but what our house is worth. That old joke about Superman been lucky he didn't land here because he would have stood for nothing at all is very true. So forgive me for been cynical when I say “Australian outrage” is an oxymoron.

I wouldn't avoid somewhere just because some people from that country do the wrong thing. Doesn;t that imply that they have won?
Tourism i believe is one of their biggest industries but it's not indonesia as a whole that will feel the loss of tourism. It's the little people who rely on tourism to support their familes that will be hurt by lack of trade and i don;t think that is fair. That said, sadly i would be quite reserved about going to say Bali only becuae i would be too nervous. |

mmm i don;t think that should be the case all be it true most of the time.
But i don;t think that it teaches the big guys a lesson. They are that devoid of any ability to feel compassion for other human beings that others loosing out because of their actions would probably be quite insignificant to them. They might even see it as the sacrafice one must make for their religion. who knows. last edited by Velvet at 14:00:09 16/Jun/06 |

they give a f*** maybe the handful of indos who work on bali give a f*** but the remaining 245 million of them who eat rice and dirt each day because their corrupt government spends taxes and international welfare on building palaces for the politician's children don't give a f*** if you are sitting on their beaches throwing cigarette butts in their sand, screwing their 13 year old daughters and drinking their daquiris. |

We would let a dictator take over because we are too lazy minded. And a bunch drunk rednecks with flags around the heads does not mean they are not apathetic just pathetic. Australians do as they are told and no more, we don't follow politics. We care more about sport than anything else. Meh, he's right though. As much as I'm a Liberal supporter, what Howard is doing lately is anything but liberal. The United States have it even worse. One by one they're having every little liberty taken away from, and it's becomming depressing. Unfortunately, a lot of that filters through to us here in Australia.
The bottom of the pit with this kind of stuff is North Korea, and boy does it look like a horrible horrible place to live. As for Bashir, like he was ever going to get any more than two years. The Indonesian government are corrupt as hell, though they're certainly not the worst in the world. Frankly though, I hate the idea of any one government having control over that many people. That's why we have states, and local oouncils... But that said - if nuclear weapons were to be detonated in any number of particular places (ie, if particular zones were to be completely wiped off the map), Indonesia would be somewhat lower down the list, unfortunately. That doesn't mean it's in any way a good place - only that there are many worse. and how did a dips*** like you come up with the list of that? do you even know where these places are on the map? Anyone who puts Israel on a list of places they wouldn' visit has pretty clearly had their list decided by media bias and uninformed friends/uni students ;D Israel is a great place, and the only part of that region with a concept of humanity. |

Why? Because after the slaughter of six million Jews some decided they needed a place to safely live?
I guess using your logic, Republican Germany, and Turkey/Ottoman should also be wiped off the map. Change happens. Look at what the Muslim world is doing to Denmark at the moment - power by asimilation. Israel is Israel, not Palestine. Palestine would still be a s***hole without the Jewish migration. |

nobody really gives a s*** about 'deserves'. The fact is that the pasestinians can't erase them off the map because they are an inferior power with fewer alies. Tough s***, it's not the first time in history this has happened. Oh, and Hamas getting elected into power is a pretty clear sign that palestine is on the way down. I predict they'll be bankrupt in 5 years once the other oil-rich arab nations get sick of funding them. Palestinian society will implode and the world will shrug it's shoulders. |

Personally, I think we should just worry about making our country great. What happened was f***ed up but but I don't think we have the military or economy to really threaten Indonesia or do anything other than what we did.
If you really want to f*** them up, take a surface to air missile launcher and shoot down a QANTAS plane flying from Hong Kong or Tokyo while in their airspace. |

That would be right, bitch and complain about Israel like a typical whinging f***ing arab. I mean why the f*** don't they build a bridge and get over it.
Means they will get to see more of their kids reach their 21st birthday because they haven't blown themselves up in the name of this ridiculous madness. It's not a coincidence that the voters have voted for Howard 4 times in a row. The ALP are a joke. The public is pretty smart and they normally get it right. I think Howard is finally reaching his first really tough test, and it is on the wedge issues he has chosen himself: immigration, gay civil unions and IR. Listening to the talkback there is finally a bit of emotion out there and shock/horror there are some Australians out there who aren't consumed by sport. |

Personally, I think we should just worry about making our country great. How can you make a country great with some of the worst scum sitting right on the doorstep? |

infi when your country gets invaded, your people kiked out of their home and people moved into camps you build a bridge and get over it, untill then SHUT THE f*** UP.
It's not a coincidence that the voters have voted for Howard 4 times in a row. The ALP are a joke. The public is pretty and as far as Asuies being lazy, best proof of that is, when they tried to introduce the same IR laws in France there was rioting for weeks, and they forced the goverenment to go back on its attempt..meanwhile here people just sat back and let their right get taken away..LAZY? STUPID? i dont know its one or the other. Under the regulations workers and unions can be hit with Federal Government fines of between $6,000 and $33,000 for seeking commitments from employers around job security or fair treatment processes and many basic union activities in the workplace have been effectively outlawedclick here please anyone who takes this sitting down is just stupid. last edited by TufNuT at 10:18:02 17/Jun/06 |

people knew the IR stuff was going to happen as soon as the Coalition got a majority in the Senate, and they gave them that majority
who the hell votes for major parties in the Senate? it's a place for wacky small parties and pinko's to make sure it isn't easy to pass massive radical changes to laws |

All the more reason why I think there should be laws limiting either the maximum size of parties, or requiring politicians to be independant, making it illegal to collude.

infi when your country gets invaded, your people kiked out of their home and people moved into camps you build a bridge and get over it, untill then SHUT THE f*** UP. the united nations recognised the state of israel and the jews are a f***ton rich. it ain't going back to the way it was. does this mean the palestinians are doomed to live in the past forever, despite the fact that they reached a negotiated position with Ariel Sharon that gave them 99.9% of what they wanted? irrational. re the IR laws. the only people who will lose are those who are lazy. those who are motivated will continue to find their niche in the market and get the rates they desire. does the local lawn mowing contractor have the benefit of an award or holidays? no he (or she) still slugs it out for their $30 an hour or whatever and has to provide for all their own super, penalty rates, holidays etc. what happens in winter? no grass to cut, how does he eat? well gets a job cleaning windows, or labouring on a construction site 3 days a week until spring comes round. he is entrepeneurial and seeks to solve hsi problem. all these values goes out the window with an employee, they think they are owed an existence and their survivial is completely reliant on their employer. what about the local tyre fitter who has to pay rent and fit all his appointments in even when he has just sliced his foot open riding a motorcycle on the weekend: does he get income while his shop has to shut down cos he is in hopsital? seriously all these over-protected union cry babies nead to wake and smell the coffee. an act of parliament cannot make your job safe or well paid. the only thing that can do that is a strong economy and a boss that is making money. usually this is assisted by having workers who does what the boss wants to make their customers happy. in 10 years from now everyone will wonder what all the fuss was about. prior to 1994 there were no unfair dismissal laws. this is all just social engineering gone mad. |

I'm not a violent person but I think it would be a good thing if this Bakir was shot by other well meaning, non-brainwashed, genuine muslims.
He is one evil brainwashing c***, the world would be better off without him. |

I was pretty suprised when Bashir was found guilty (more suprised than when they rounded up all the 'bali bombers' within about a month of the attack). The evidence wouldn't have stuck here, it shouldn't have stuck there.
I'm definitely not a bashir supporter, far from it. If a rock fell from the sky and crushed him i'd chuckle (suck s*** your god hates you) but they didn't have anything on him apart from words that could be taken either way and they shouldn't have been pretended they did have stuff on him, since locking him up has just given him credibility. If i'd done two years on the flimsy i-said-he-said evidence presented i'd be pissed. If he did cause the bali bombings then hit him with the crime, don't pass retorspective bulls*** laws and take the word of deathrow avoiders. Indonesia's problem seems to be that it ignored these fundamentalists for too long. It knew what they were doing and how they operated, but it didn't care because anti-westernism suits them to a T, right up until tourism and investment $s start fleeing. last edited by natslovR at 20:11:23 17/Jun/06 |
