You guys ever tried playing with the opposite hand in fps games? If right handed, use mouse in left hand, keyboard in right ... and vice versa for left handed people ... I tried it just now, to see how hard it would be. I was an absolute newb, even with my extensive knowledge in quake, I could hardly beat the bots on Hurt Me Plenty. I couldn't aim, I couldn't strafe jump too well, I couldn't even strafe and go backward ...

Craziest thing, usually with my right hand, I invert the mouse, in my left hand I had to use standard settings. Forward was up, back was down.

Also, I thought the higher the sensitivity, the higher skill was required ... but I couldn't for the life of me aim with low sensitivity in my left hand, because I couldn't grasp the need to lift the mouse to recentre it.

I feel a bit nauseated from the experience, but it was pretty cool. Anyone else given this a go and found they need different settings to play with the different sides of the brain being used?

My mice are right handed only, so kinda shoots that idea in the foot.

It's because you're an ra3 player trying to play real Quake3

Haha. This goes to prove that standard (non-inverted) mouse settings are for people with s***ty hand-eye coordination :)

Inverted ftw!

if you could actually beat me in a proper quake duel, you might have been able to make that joke ;)

i am sorta right handed... when i came through primary school writing with your left hand was discouraged even though it felt natural to me & writing with my right hand felt a bit stiff & not as natural. but after a lot of practice my right hand could write just as good as my left hand.
when i started playing doom i used a mouse in my left hand to fine tune my keyboard directed aim. it was truly a freakish config compared to how most ppl fps configs evolved... i used the keypad on the keyboard with my right hand & the mouse in front of the keyboard with my left hand :P
this slowly evolved into my current fps config where i use the mouse in my left hand & to the left of the keyboard & no longer direct aim with the keyboard :P

always been non-inverted though... inverted is for freaks with aileron flaps attached to thier heads! rite jim!? ;D

I used to have a ball mouse that decided to stop left clicking, and because I completely hated anything else but ball mice, I didnt buy another mouse. So I started using my left hand to control the mouse. I got used to it after a while, its great fun when playing a game.

funny, when use my right hand for aiming, it's fine with a mouse...
