Well the apparent reason was that the last few times they did raids, he slipped away. Hence this time round, they dropped a laser-guided bomb from miles away so that he couldn't hear it coming.

US did this to send a message they dont care about killing civilian either.

Sounds like the actions of a competent individual to me. If saddam had of tried to fight what would have happened? The marines would have backed off and tossed a grenade down his hole. It would have achieved less then a suicide bomber.

As for your dieing for Allah, you might appreciate the difference between bleeding your wrists dry in a bath tub for allah and blowing up a town square for allah. As long as a charasmatic leader is alive he does more for his cause then his pointless death would.

That maybe but he but he is party to a style of warfare that orders young men to drop large quantities of bombs on populated areas. He also is a leader who makes appeals to liberal democracy as a principle worth fighting for.
