thanks, but its not exactly what im looking for, there is a calculator that you punch in a bunch of numbers and it will tell you how much you earn.

They're the numbers you need and windows has a calculator?

I know you want just a 'plug in the numbers' type thing, but seriously, that's all you have to do with what I linked to.

I can post my spreadsheet if you want - it's pretty comprehensive, will give you all kinds of figures.

I've uploaded a templatish version of the spreadsheet I use to:

http://helix.racetime.com.au/files/zero/Costs%20(Template%20060603).xls

This should provide most of the kind of details you'll find useful. A couple of notes though:

1 - I take no responsibility for financial decisions you make based on information you get from this spreadsheet :) Use at your own risk.
2 - I've chaneged the figures on the income sheets to be 4,000/month as a nominal figure since I don't really want to go giving out all my own details. I have however left in my own cost planning details in the costs sheets.
3 - There is no #3. I just put it in there for fun.
4 - You'll notice there's a set for 2005 and a set for 2006. Some of the features are a bit different between the two sheets/types. They also accordingly use the tax and HELP repayment rates appropriate for that yeat.
5 - I'm technically a contractor, so I have to work out my own super and hold back GST etc, which is why all that stuff is there.
6 - The figures for monthly/fortnightly costs are AVERAGES. At the moment the sheet doesn't deal with things like fluctuations in your pay etc or fluctuations on costs/bills.
7 - Yes, there are macros. It's used for calculating compound interest and loan repayment rates.
8 - If you find errors, I'd love to know about them. Raven at challenge hyphen au dot com
9 - Yes, I have nothing under my 'entertainment' column. I'm a boring f***, okay?
10 - I'm not 100% confident in the HELP figure it gives me because I think it should actually be more :/

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that.

I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

BTW you may find the 'personal' Quicken software useful. You can download 30 day trials from their website.

$4000 a month Gross is only $48k a year, I'm guessing he earns substantially more!
