is Carlton's Crown Lager a 'wheat beer' like Redback?

I've family staying atm - I scrummed up a dozen Crownies (as ya do), but he's telling me he has a severe allergic response to certain type of foods.. especially those with wheat-based additives!@#%

apparently if he risks this there's a possibility Physcho! might haveto come round and take some happy-snaps. While that'd be cool, we'd potentially be a man-down here at the lan.. oh, and my Aunt prolly wouldn't be too happy with me if I allowed that to happen

anyways...

if he's a celiac then he can't really hope to feel well after any type of gluten, not specifically wheat itself... rye, barley etc Can he eat white bread?

So most if not all beers would be out except the 'gluten free' ones, aswell as alot of wines...

What do you mean by severe allergic response?? I know a celiac who explosive vomits from only having eaten a bit of food that has been prepared with a utensil that has touched a wheat product and i know 1 girl who just gets a bloated stomach whenever she eats gluten... same condition, vastly different effects

So yeah what exactly happens to him that is so severe?

This is Koopz's mate. The one with the prob, and what i've found out is:

Apparrently...
For those with type 'O' blood both wheat and corn have gotta go!

Side effects include, diabetes, arthritic pain, eczema, asthma,
irritable bowel, excessive swelling of joints, chronic gas, bloating.
The list continues but you get the idea.

Sounds like fun eh?

Personally, I suffered RSI chronic pain, turned to weed for pain control.

All ended two weeks after ceasing wheat and corn.

I'm skippin both wheat and corn from now on dudes!!

Little Creatures Pilsener
James Squire Golden Ale
Coopers Pale Ale

My 3 faves at the moment. I tried an Extra Dry Platinum the other night. It's 6.8% or something. Seemed a little flat to me, but may have just been that batch.

I would suggest your mate try Pure Blonde, XXXX Diet Lager or Carlton Low Joule. One of those might be alright for him?

I usually can't stand beer unless I've already had a few other drinks. Pure Blondes are the exception, they're awesome.

a mate of mine who is a celiac(sp?) who can't have any type of gluten or wheat can only drink alcoholic cider. no beer, no spirits. if he drinks them he feels sick in the guts for a few days, s***s through the eye of a needle and feels nauseous.

The problem with beer is, everyone has different tastes and what not with food, same applies to beer.

Simply saying XXXX is s***, is not correct, just means you do not like it.

Beer is often more refined depending on how long they spend in the brewing process. Which brings out the simple principle, premium and imported beers are usually better than local beer. Corona however, is not the best of beers for its price, out of all the imported beers on offer, it is definately overpriced for its qaulity, Corona for people in mexico is about equivalent in cost to what a carton of XXXX gold costs for us. (its not a very refined beer)

That said, im more of a fan of

xtra dry, Tooheys New, Pure Blonde, Becks, Heineken, and you can't go wrong with a good old stubbie of gold. Beez Neez is overpriced, and honey malt and beer just do not mix. Tooheys Pils however is an awesome brew, definently worth the extra bucks.

And im sorry all XXXX drinkers are bogans, but that doesn't mean the beer is bad!

Pricey stuff: Coopers Pale Ale, Corona, Pilsner

Cheaper stuff: Carlton Mid, Extra Dry.

I'll drink any beer though, I'm no beer wanker.

^^ the man has taste.

Also, a little drop I have become quite partial to recently is hoegaarden on tap at the belgium beer cafe'. $23 per stein is a bit exxy, but I'm a beer snob so I'll pay it.
