Guardian Unlimited

Scientists have made one of the most important fossil finds in history: a missing link between fish and land animals, showing how creatures first walked out of the water and on to dry land more than 375m years ago.

And I like this part too:
As such, it will be a blow to proponents of intelligent design, who claim that the many gaps in the fossil record show evidence of some higher power.

Sure it will. The 30 pages to follow this post will be full of (stupid) people disagreeing.

Yeah awesome news. It took a few bounces around the blog sites and slashdot to find some good picture of this thing. Eventually I found a link from one of this blog to the University of Chicago video of the creature. The video feature one of the scientists that was one of the co-leader for the team the found this thing:

Need quick time to view though :(. The video contains the fossil & and a model of the creature.

What the fark I don't understand is why both theories can't work together simultaneously?

Like gee god made all the animals and told them reproduce and evolve and it was so!

But instead most of the religious zealots are simple minded enough not to even think of the possibility. Say if there was a divine intelligence that much beyond our reckoning it would be easier for us to explain quantum physics to a 2 year old than this god entity would be able to explain many concepts such as evolution, creation of planets from stars and whatnot to ancient, or hell even half the human population now.

Basically when explaining things to people much simpler than you, you use terms they understand. More fool them if they take your examples literally instead of trying to think outside the box.

It is somewhat amusing that god is meant to be all powerful but not powerful enough to not be understood by some hick with average or beloew average intelligence. Yeah gods not smart enough to put in a system that will self evolve or what not. Just like humans aren't smart enough to create virtual worlds such as 'second life', neural networks and simple ai that's behaviour is not necessarily obvious from its constituent parts.

Regardless I'm an agnostic, god might not be some man with a furry beard sitting in the clouds but could be a nebulous concept like 'the emergence of life from stars', the fact that 100000 ants can act with 1 hive like mentality, or a million other things simple people who interpret everything literally can't seem to comprehend.

how about them mud-skippers, axolotols, lungfish, turtles, etc? :P~~ imo they are all links of creatures evolving out of the water to be a land dweller... or the other way.. both are good. :D

Like gee god made all the animals and told them reproduce and evolve and it was so!

if god created evolution... what animal did he start with? protozoa? :P~~

What is dna
God figure: "And on the 6th day or whatever I made tiny maps mankind will discover 1000s of years from now which shall rely upon the complex interaction of proteins and acids to form many of the animals you see around you today."

Random scribe: frantically scribbling down on his tablet or whatnot, "'on the 6th day god made animals'"

God figure: "Thats not what I said"

Random scribe (particularly perceptive for his time but god knows this thats why he chose him): "You do realise nobody is going to be able to understand all this"

God figure: "Yeah I guess you are right, eventually they'll get the hang of this stuff, I'll just whip up some commandments later for you guys to live by and for the time being you just go write your own story. At least that will be something you guys can't get wrong"

Shrug bring it, ID version 2.0. We can already remove many hereditary diseases from human dna/eggs. You don't have to just start something in motion and not intefere every now and then and nobody knows what exactly started it all off yet anyway.

Oh forgot I may as well include the first page of the bible:

They recently discovered a smaller scroll hidden in the cylinder
of the first scroll of the ancient Biblical scriptures, believed
to be the actual "first page" of the Bible. When deciphered, it
read:

way should this be construed as a sign that there is, beneath
such an explosion, any form of saviour. Should such a
misconstrual happen, the author will not be held responsible for
the avalanche of arrogance, zeal, bigotry, humanocentricity and
other vile acts which will surely follow the residents of the
planet into time eternal until someone sees fit to erase the
denizens of the world and let the author start over.

This calls for a rap session,

I look at rappers with maximun equation
X-ray vison invasion
Rhyme connects perfects insects
That crawl and try to bite my rhymes
Pesticides I'm the double D combine the T
Thats DDT
A chemical more to better to burn
Roaches, germs, mouse, lice, termites and percunious bugs
Or try thugs who perpotrate
Nothing within contaminate
Got my gloves on
So bring turtle doves on
Watch me pluck em and pick em
Stick em kick em and vic em
I see you're featherless
You got the birdy disease
Bite any rhymes that I have for ya
The poison is bad for ya stupid
You're equal measure to dirt dust grime and puss
You're just a rappin infection
Dirtlizin my section like a six-legga
Ya betta step off and walk ya pure roach

Forced rhymes?
Not gonna bail you out this time
They've failed, let go
Reinvent the constant
Don't know
How you can be so confident
When the evidence suggests
Your lyrical descent
Impurity
Get some maturity
For the rhythm collect
In retrospect you need to forget
What you thought you knew
It's a lie
Not true
So I'm tellin you where you are
Where you're headin
This is your rhyme hell
You've met your armageddon
