Anyone know of a good toy retailer that might carry any good quality toy/replica rifles that fire roll type caps?.. I had a fantastic toy as a kid (my Dad was in importing and I always had the coolest toys no one else could get>:) anyway I was telling my son about this cool Thompson smg that I had that fired entire 100 paper roll cps and he has been scouring the net looking for something similar. Kerpowee site in US has a lot of stuff but mainly items that wouldnt make into Oz, many are airsoft , BB guns. Also the cap guns have a freight of about $100AU!!
So anyone who knows a place that sells toy/replica cap weapons like I have described I would much appreciate the info. |

I haven't seen cap guns in years. Are they still around? Wouldn't surprise me if some whiney parents complained and got them banned.

The toy shop up at Indro has a pretty good range of cap pistols and a winchester rifle, some even use the old roll type caps, but nothing as cool as a Thompson. Also Kat these are toys and not 'replicas' in the true sense in that they are obvious as toys because of their scale and huge orange tip on them. i.e they are much smaller etc.
This toy is what he would really like but it would cost upwards of $140AU to get here...and I aint doing that. :) last edited by Psycho! at 10:34:24 22/Mar/06 p.s that page takes forever to load but the site show some of the stuff you can get in US. last edited by Psycho! at 10:37:28 22/Mar/06 |

I am pretty sure replica's are illegalCorrect. know ado was into the airsoft guns for a while & was going to try & import some from americaAirsoft guns are illegal in Australia. They are replica's and illegal, and their potential to fire ball bearings also makes them ilelgal just as ShangHai sling shots are illegal. That of course doesn't stop you trying to import one, but it might (probably) just get confiscated on the way in. Your best bet would be to import it in pieces and re-assemble when it gets here, but the pieces are probably easily recognisable and will also be picked up. |

And, the fact that you've got "replica" written down the side of your guns. And, the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point 5 0" written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence. Now . . . fu** off.

I'll change the threat topic i guess...i am not interested in anything that can fire a projectile..other than the toy type that can shoot a ping pong ball etc...'toy' is the operative word here guys.

replicas aren't illegal.Ok, go pull out your replica in frotn of police and see what happens. See what also happens when they find out it's a replica - you will be charged as though it is a real weapon. It would surely be illegal to carry a replica, produce a replica in public or threaten anybody with a replica. The law will consider the replica an actuating firearm. and their potential to fire ball bearings also makes them ilelgalI should have said "is what makes them illegal" As far as exact replica's alone go, I think you might need a gun licence? I couldn't see it coming through customs and them saying "ohhh it's only a replica hehehehe just give it to whoever that guy was who was getting it! sure, he may go threaten someone with it but who cares, it's not real! lololol" Ask Evis, he might know this s***, I'm just using mostly common sense (except that I know armed robbery/threats etc. with a replica is identical to using a real weapon). last edited by Loki at 12:21:36 22/Mar/06 last edited by Loki at 12:27:27 22/Mar/06 |

Hrm, evis just tells me you apparently don't need a gun licence to own one.
But the using one to threaten etc. is still considered a real weapon. Seems silly that you don't need a gun licence given it's implications and potential use to cause panic/duress etc. Airsoft etc. that fire projectiles still definately remain illegal ^____^ last edited by Loki at 12:31:58 22/Mar/06 |

I can remember when I was younger and into cap guns there was a $50 Chain gun at Target. It was f***ing awesome... battery powered and fired 100 caps per minute. I always wanted it so badly but could never afford it.

I used to get those revolver cap guns, you know the see through ones? ANyway, I'd remove that little block thing in the end & roll up bits of tinfoil as bullets. Worked too. I never ended up shooting myself in the eye or anyone else for that matter. Kids these days miss out on so much awesome stuff

the best cap guns were those pistols that fired one cap at a time, you pulled back the chamber and then closed to fire, they were really loud, anyone remember them?

Some of the US sites I have checked out have them rated at 125dB. When I was a kid we used to get the whole roll of caps, place it on the concrete driveway and smash it with a hammer..if you hit it just right you aced the whole roll...man that made a huge bang. But then again when I was a kid we still had Cracker Night...NOW THAT WAS FUN. :p |

Pity you cheated by copy pasting the quote rather than typing it (sif you would have censored f***) yeah i know, it's been a while since i've seen the movie. Plus I hate it when people get quotes wrong, so I thought I should try to get it right myself. |

Unlicenced ownership of replica pistols and rifles are legal in Queensland only. The act though, does stipulate it is an offence to brandish one in a public place, or to display or operate in any manor or location as to (or to intend to) cause alarm.

Cus you can buy the handle and the band separatelyI bought mine assembled, the ones with the wrist support are the ones that are illegal (see pic). Obviously you can't go roaming the streets with a shanghai, just like you can't go roaming the streets with a big f***-off knife evcen though aren't illegal. Mine is the same as the one pictured less the wrist support. |

hehe yeh Demon the old 'destroy the letterbox' mission...I was a sad little so and so...we had this really cool letterbox that my Grandfather had made. It looked like a little house with a garage that opened up to get the letters, little plastic windows and everything. Weeeel, one cracker night I filled that sucker with about 4 threepenny bungers (you recall the huge bastards), looped the fuses together and blew it to smithereens.
My mum came down, grabbed my suitcase with like 3 months worth of collected and saved crackers and put the lot in the concrete tubs in our laundry and filled it up with water. Then she flogged me...ah the memories. ^-^ |
