Sony Australia have sent through a brief email this morning confirming that the PlayStation 3 will launch in Australia this year:

We are absolutely delighted to confirm that PLAYSTATION 3 will launch in Australia before Christmas this year!! Ken Kutaragi, President and Group CEO of SCEI, stated yesterday afternoon, that PLAYSTATION 3 would be launched globally in early November 2006.

nice. wont be able to afford it since i will just be getting back from a trip overseas :(

I dont know if people are going to wait another 9 months to get the ps3 over the xbox360... if I was a console noob I'de buy the 360 in a week when its released.

It's rendered realtime from mock hardware. Considering the scale of this game, and sony's reliance on this franchise, Konami would have a pretty accurate idea of (probably the most) of what the hardware is looking like.

Hey, atleast the aussie ps3 release date isnt 3billion years after the rest of the world.

Killzone was clearly a pre-render, I have faith that MGS4 video will be a reasonably accurate representation.

I also said Doom3 would suck (bad) back when QGL were going apes*** over the early gameplay videos/screenies, and I'm an id fan.

i dont think that mgs4 will look anything like the video. dont you remember all those videos of ps2 in "realtime" back before it came out? 100% hype 0% truth.

ps3? ill believe it when i see it. at least xbox360 shows gameplay videos... some of which look pretty interesting. (i dont like xbox)

With 6 months between the releases, it will give all the people who bought an xbox360 time to save up again and purchase a PS3.

i reckon their both silly consoles. they just wanna be PCs, take a look at the FPSs coming out for them, if im gonna get a console it will be for console gaming, and it looks like the only reasonable (and affordable) choice will be the revolution. at least nintendo haven't lost sight of what consoles are really about. now if you'll excuse me, i'll be playing an FPS or RTS the way its intended.... on pc.

Meh, I never really understood the 'wanna be pcs' comment. Can you please explain it better apart from the reason that fps games are released on consoles?
