i was in there this afternoon, mr EPA came in and took a s***pile of bass outta the systems to meet his lame noise restrictions, then saying "still sounds good, punters wont know the difference"

f*** me if there was no guts left in the bottom end :( hopefully after he left the guys fixed it up.

my gf mentioned she saw an incredibly hulky guy while driving yesterday. you immediately sprang to mind, but then i remembered "acetame doesnt drive cars, he takes giant leaps to his destinations".

now finding out it really WAS you, i feel nothing but jealousy for her witnessing the kfc abomination in all his glory :(

I was very disapointed with the whole event. The sound systems were all s***, not only very quiet, but as you said squarky, NO BASS. That probably ruined a lot of acts to start with.

Very sad to say Morillo was s***.
I was really looking forward to seeing him, was very excited. He was terribly boring. Mighta been slightly cos the sound system was ass, but he played boring songs with crap peaks.

Steve Angello was probably the best act I saw, bearing in mind I only got there at about 12.30am so I missed a lot of the opening acts. He played some good songs but again was let down MAJORLY by the sound being so quiet and the complete lack of bass.

Armin was pretty good, he played a huge 3hour set, only saw about 30-40mins of it, but he was pretty fun... let down by the sound!

Overall it was an ok event, I probably wont go again next year if the sound system is likely to be so s*** again. Being able to hear the person next to you talking isn't a good thing, and the complete lack of bass was a complete and utter trainwreck. Still, nice to get out and have an all night stomp!

What did everyone else think?

the showgrounds is a totally s*** venue

all the residents who live around it complain everytime there is an event there (so the music gets turned down or muted)

even when the music is loud, some of those sheds sound attrocious with sound bouncing off the walls

time for a new venue for largish event in brisso

This event was so badly organised. To start the night off bad, a mate of mine along wih 300 other people got a ticket from Central Station which wasn't a ticket and more like a credit card. Once you got there you had to stand in line for around 1 hour to get your proper ticket. Only to find once you got to the frount of the cue they were manualy looking up each card number to verify you have a ticket then to hand it over to you. They also had this f***ed up drink card idea where you couldn't buy alchol outright so you had to have a card punched every time you need a drink and this seemed to be a mission for the people just to use a f***ing hole punch to mark your card. The sound was appalling (No offence Squarky) But they had these f***sticks with the noise level readings the entire night turning down the sound.

All in most acts were f***ing great but the entire night had a bad vibe to it that it seemed to be run by someones mum and dad and you wern't allowed to play the music loud or the people next door would complain. I can't understand why yuppies move to the valley only to have a cry about the noise and then ruin it for everyone else.

in the past, event organisers have paid for some of the whingier residents to be put up in hotels away from the show grounds

no offence taken, nothing wrong with the gear at all, its the same s*** you've all herd at big day out, livid, the arena etc. Those sheds sound like ass and the EPA were going ballistic from what i've herd, poor organization and lame restrictions ruining another gig, its f***ing sad.

I could hear it pretty clearly from my joint a few clicks north of the city and it actually sounded louder than a lot of gigs they have there.
That was around 3am so I assumed I was listening to Armin. Not long after that it seemed a lot quieter though.

I didn't hear anything wrong with the sound. I spent all night in godskitchen and nothing sounded wrong. There was plenty of bass to all the songs.

Markus shulz and armin van buuren were just amazing, can see why armin is one of the great djs around. He has a vibe about him that makes everyone just feel so much happier when his music is playing.

Kai tracid was pretty good, pitty about noise restriction and having to turn sound down.

Was good night in all, bring on next one.

I know this happened in Melbourne but...

DOZENS of partygoers have been arrested for drug offences and three overdosed at the annual Two Tribes dance party in Melbourne.
Police seized ecstasy, speed, cannabis and "a considerable amount of GHB", also known as grievous bodily harm, at the event, which attracted 11,500 people to Melbourne Park.
Of the 63 people arrested for drug offences, five were charged with trafficking drugs.

Story

Curious too, of those who went to the Brisbane one, how many had to take something in order to enjoy it??

just curious squarky, as you seem to be involved, what DB did you have to stay under?

I wasn't on anything. I had 2 beers and some no doze to keep me awake into the wee hours of the morning. That said, I'd say 90% of people there were on something, if not more.

NFI i was only there in the soundchecks to solve some problems they were having (i had more exp with the gear involved that the guys on the gig but was on other shows). Sounded like about 100db C weight at the rear of the venue after he scooped the low end out, didnt seem to be targeting full range SPL just the bottom end (which sounded about 10+db behind the rest of the PA.

100-110 db, damm that aint very loud at all, we play between 100-110 at cover band gigs. Getting down to 100db and sounding good is pretty hard, f*** noise restrictions suck ass.
