I might make an appearence after work. Last years one was pretty good, plenty of lovely looking ladies if I remember correctly.

And not to mention the 10 dollar cougar jugs, they went off.

It's going to be packed to the s***ter. I suggest getting there early. Remember, it's 2 for 1 drinks from 6 or something...

Zak, do you know what time they'll be opening the back section? Last year they left it shut till about 8.

The can bars? I'm not too sure. The license to drink in the carpark would cover the whole day I assume, but they might not be too keen on it until things kick off officially at 6 or 7. You will definately have more room to move up in that section though.

They can sell drinks in the car park whenever they went. It comes with there liqour license providing the carpark is there private propertey.

Also, about the toga would you look stupid if you didn't wear one, i wore one last year and its just so annoying wearing a toga.

Tiny, last year they had not set the car park up fully for serving drinks and had it closed with security until about 8 (maybe even 9). I wasn't really asking when they can serve alcohol, but when can we venture up there to find a table.

I think it's from 6 or 7, I can never remember. Give them a call - 3371 2555.

Not sure what time they are opening the can bars. I guess when it starts filling up a bit.

I see how going to the RE dressed in nothing but a $4 piece of loin and getting vomited on makes sense than going wearing normal clothes... and getting vomited on

So anyway, I decided to go despite really not having much fun at the RE when they have these massive events. Its always hard to get a drink and there are always too many people; its painful moving around.

We got there around 7.30pm - no line at this point, so things were looking good. However, it was 2-for-1 drinks at the bar, so it was totally chockas - people lined like 6 deep inside and out. We moved to the back to the kitchen to get some food, which was the only painless part of the entire night - not many people ordering much food so we got ours really quick.

Hardball, Billy was dispatched to the bar (of his own volition) and went to the indoor bar, figuring that there'd be less people there because it wasn't 2-for-1. Other members of our stalwart party ventured upstairs to try that bar, but it was closed. Not really sure why..

The back part of the pub (for the uninitiated, the entire RE carpark is fenced off for big events like this and they put all the tables and chairs out there, along with two temporary bars) was still not open at this point - we'd heard it would be opened at 8.30, so we were loitering around the kitchen waiting so we could go and scam some tables and hit the bars up there ASAP.

The back part opened a little earlier and we dashed out and secured 2x tables, getting a great vantage point. Several members made their way to the bar, thinking that would soon open as well - although we soon found out that wasn't scheduled to open until 9pm (by this point it was around 8.15).

Billy returned a bit before 8.30, with a single jug - they'd just put in limits on how many drinks people could buy before he got to the bar.

By this point I was well and truly over the whole thing, having only had 1 cup of beer in around an hour of being there. Its an incredibly frustrating experiencing being at a pub (especially when its your preferred watering hole) and not being able to get a drink. Having to bash your way through a jillion sweaty people (even if some of them are smoking hot semi-naked girls) to get a beer isn't much fun.

Also, beers out the back were $4 a pop (for a can). So not only did we have to wait around half an hour before the back bars opened we had to pay the extra fee to buy beer there.

The only reason I can think of that they opened and started serving drinks out the back so late is licensing restrictions. Does anyone know if this is the case? Nothing else makes sense at all - you've got literally hundreds of people lining up to give you money and THEY CAN'T DO IT because there are too many other people there.

I'm really sick of being at the RE for events like that; they need to massively increase their drink supply throughput levels to make it worth going there. Send someone to the bar and they're gone for 45 minutes and return with one jug ?! Seriously, asif you'd bother.

I lost all interest in being there after 2 hours of not drinking and left early. Billy and co stayed on kicking strong so I assume they had a good night.

Sounds like the cockie races at Story Bridge.

They need to start hosting these events at larger venues if they want to continue to do this. Why don't they do it at places like the convention centre or if that's a lil to close to Southbank comfort, then the RNA (which at least is a little better equipped to cope with these sorta crowds)

cos they don't give a s*** about whether or not people get good service.

I bet they openned the back bars late because by then the 2-4-1's would be over. Tight asses.

They should also have a loyalty-card bar. So like, if ur an alco like trog who goes to the RE regularly, u can get stamps or what-not and after a year or so u get your VIP card, and then there will be one section of the bar that only VIP members can order drinks from so they get better service. I'm a genious.

That chick with the red hair is hawt. PLease tell her i said hi.
Also the brunette has lettuce in her teeth. Please tell her I said "Brush".
Is that Billy second from right or Sandman? Or one of the Daddos?
And Mr Blonde should be careful, he could take out an eye with that head.

But seriously say hi to that hottie for me.

By the way toga is a greek custom, and if you look closely at pic number two, I think you can see another greek custom in the not too distant future.

Please don't let me sarcastic affront to your masculinity prevent you from passing on my what up to Ms. Red. She's my future babee's mama.

LMAO

The brunette doesn't have lettuce in her teeth, it's the thing around the other chick's head.

In that first photo, it's r_mazing at the left, then me with the long hair, then Dimo at the right.

I met that chick with the hoop earings waiting in line for a drink. She was really nice and I kept her spirits up while we were waiting for ages to be served. Haha... she was getting so pissed off so I just kept telling her to keep her eye on the prize and enjoy it instead of getting angry.

No idea who the others are. We took a lot of photos with rando's.

Yeh I figured on the lettuce thing. Still, it doesn't hurt to brush, just to be sure. I am shattered about Red. I had the whole thing planned out. Oh well, maybe I'll see her...in my dreams.

So did anyone lose their toga?

True. These types of events which are designed esp to attract first/second year uni students will ALWAYS bring in a bucket load for them, so providing brilliant service isn't a priority.

I didn't go this year either - precisely for this reason. Sure the dress up theme and whatnot is good and you've got a great bunch of ppl around, but spending 45 mins in a queue for a drink and trying to make ur way through crowds (worse than the after christmas sale crowds) kinda ruins it for me. I know a lot of other ppl who don't bother going for exactly the same reasons :/.
