q: Can you be arrested for traces of a drug in your system? Say, for example, you trip out somehwere and the amobs/hospital find 'an illicit' drug in your system, can you be arrested/get into trouble for that?

not usually unless your on H or something addictive in which case they will probably try get you on a rehab program. If you poped an E and fliped out like a 17y/o schoolie ending up in hospital then i doubt you'd have any problems with the law.

Drugs are bad mmmkay

What the hell kind of evening are you planning where this arose as a concern for you? If you're going to do something you're not knowledgeable about you should really do it in a safe place for starters and with people who are sober/have done it before preferably.

But yeah I really don't see what you could possibly do to end up in that sort of situation short of overdosing on heroin.

Yeah unless its H or something i doubt they would, if they do say something just act really suprised and go with the 'someone spiked my drink' story.

I know for a fact that it is NOT illegal to be under the influence of any drug.

The more drugs you do the better, preferably in overdosing amounts so that you don't breed.

If you're gonna ride, Don't Ride the White Horse!

And the answer is no, patient privilege; hospitals are not under any obligation to report illicit drug overdoses to authorities.
You could go to hospital due to the OD and when straight again tell them who your dealer is etc. and they can't do anything with that information.

It's a thing of the past that if the ambulance were called out to an OD that police were also sent.

Short of that, death from OD is caused due to respiratory depression and hypoxia - Have someone who knows EAR and is going to be straight if you're going to be doing opiates, it'll save your ass.

In the end... If you wanna be rich, you've got to be a bitch.

As far as I am aware having taken a drug isn't illegal. Dealing is though and having 'enough to deal with' is illegal, as is having anything to take the drug with.

As you can tell I am not a drug taker so this is pure speculation off old information

ACTUALLY, it arose when I was watching a movie and that kinda situation happened, but it was set in America and I was wondering if anyone knew what the rules where in Australia.

If I have my way, I will not trip out "like a 17 y.o schoolie"

thanks!

Well, as someone who has worked as medical staff in virtually all major hospitals in Brisbane I just told you the 'rule'.

Medical staff aren't permitted to directly act [inform authorities] on information such as being told of who drug dealers are etc. by patients, it's part of information privacy.

If you wanted to divulge such information to me, I would inform you that I am not the correct person to be talking to about it and point you in the direction of authorities [not vice versa].

Taking an illicit drug is illegal, but so is suicide.
Not really a prosecutable kind of illegal.

You know the vast majority of drink spiking is alcohol.
Either people getting other people doubles or tripples, Or people simply not knowing their limits and looking for someone to blame.

You know the vast majority of drink spiking is alcohol.

Considering many people judge their drunken-ness on the physical number of glasses they had as opposed to how they 'feel', and continue drinking, I can see how that can lead to problems.

Why would someone spike your drink with drugs? That's a waste of good drugs.

On a some what related note, I thought this was funny -
A 52-year-old man from the German town of Darmstadt tried in vain to get a refund for 400 euros ($644) worth of what he said was "bad marijuana" from his dealer before turning to the police for help, according to authorities.

The police then charged the man with violating drugs possession laws and confiscated the 200 grams of marijuana he brought with him to the police station, according to a report in Bild am Sonntag newspaper Sunday. "It is un-usable," the man told police in the hope they would help him get his money back. Amounts of up to 30 grams of marijuana are allowed in most German states for private consumption.

It happens yet again, another aussie stupid enough to be caught with drugs in Indonesia. No doubt more of our tax money will be spent defending this dope.

The Australian manager of small resort hotel on the Indonesian Island of Lombok is facing a possible 10-year jail sentence for possession of cannabis and cannabis seeds.

She has been charged with possession of about 50 grams of cannabis and two small bags of seeds.

Story

(I didn't think it deserved it's own thread).
