Topic: Hottest 100 Countdown! *SPOILER WARNING*

Firstly, to all the noob listeners out there, don't get caught by the trap of listening to both the internet stream AND the radio because it will confuse you greatly (unless you have planned ahead).

I am listening to the countdown right meow and I'm thinking that Franz will get a lot of songs in the 100, but not in the top 10. I tried to psych myself into Wolfmother this morning but quite seriously I'm f***ing over them already from them being overplayed on the J's.

I can only post for a while cause I'm going to switch to radio soon and don't want to hear about what hasn't been played on our stupid QLD radio!

Minds Eye will be the highest.

I think Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. & Ben Lee - Catch My Disease will be highest.

I think the thing is, the no 1 song is usually the song that kinda summed up the year of music. For me, at least, 'take me out', while slightly overplayed,
was a really good no 1 last year because it did kinda sum up music.

W'ish you well' is a really good, cute little bernard fanning-like song, but for me, it wasn't that song that everyone sang all the time all year, where you're like "yeah, this is music". Wolfmother, System of a Down, Foo's, Kaiser Chiefs, I don't know, there were a lot of other bands that had songs that really satisfied the "yeah. this is the IT song of 2005". that being said, the list is still a pretty f*cking awesome one

I'd rather see Bernard Fanning get #1 than the Gorillaz.

Well, Bernard Fanning as no. 1 certainly was a surprise!! But yeah - I agree that he deserved it tho (even tho the winner wasn't one of my pics).

Overall, a good list. Tho Ben Folds didn't even get a mention until no. 52 :(. Meh...I suppose he's an acquied taste :P.

Wolfmother did well...Gorillaz too (yay!). Twas nice to see Sarah Blasko in their also :).

Little suprised by Benard getting #1 (I thought about 10), but no real great suprises otherwise. Was glad Ben Lee didn't get #1 for the sake of my eyesight (Dimo was playing darts at the time).

Little disappointed that some of my girly songs didn't get in - Grates, Love Outside Andromeda, Holly Throsby :(

All in all a great day filled with music, food, beer, cricket, tennis and pools.

Good to see Bernal get #1, I thought Wolfmother would have been a lock.

And Ben Lee, that was a surprise, and Kanye West only getting #13?

wolfmother was never going to get #1 because they don't have one obvious hit that stands out from all their other songs (unlike bernard fanning) so you could say the bogan vote was split

I'd argue that Mind's Eye stands out, which is why it made it to #6.

Speaking of Mind's Eye - I normally like Jay and the Doctor, but WTF was with them talking over the first like 30 seconds of the song?!@#! I thought they'd f***ed up and left the mike on or something it was that bad.

did they have a "prank" number one this year? I don't listen to the countdown anymore because having the mexicans know about it an hour ahead is frustrating, I just look at it on the net.

Once again, the hottest 100 does a splendid job of embarrasing all Australians. "Wish You Well" is less a song and more a method of acoustic torture. Who can listen to that trainwreck for more than 2 seconds without being overcome by the urge to bash the nearest baby's face in? Let alone vote for it?! I think Fanning has been taking lessons from Florida election officials.

I really like Bernard Fanning's song... nice and upbeat but the lyrics are quite sad.

I think the thing about htis year's hottest 100 is that it was built up so much. Seems to have been the biggest lead up to a hottest 100 that I can remember, but in the end, it was just another hottest 100.

it's funny because bernard fanning called ben lee a "precocious little c***" a few years back

good to see the rivalry is still strong

I was surprised to see Maximo Park not place anywhere in the 100, JJJ flogged the crap out of them this year

"precocious little c***"
Manifesting or characterized by unusually early development or maturity, especially in mental aptitude....

Id call that a compliment if I was Ben Lee.

I think you were looking for pretentious. ;) (It was a response to Ben Lee claiming that he was the best thing to come out of Australia Musically... rather a pretentious claim)

The word was precocious, and in the context it was meant as a slur rather than a compliment.
