Finally getting my laptop today!
http://www.acer.com.au/acer/akc/rwpattach.nsf/PublicbySrc/ESSTM4060.pdf/$file/ESSTM4060.pdf

Travelmate 4060(4)
It has 802.11b/g? Wi-Fi.

So now i need a new hub for my network cus my old only only has 5 slots and i dont feel like running cables through my walls again.

So recommend me a wireless router with at least 4 normal ports (not including router port)!
At this stage i am looking at getting this one: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=2&&bid=2&sid=8516
Not really the best for future-proofing, but i can always use my old hub and link them for extra slots.

edit: Fixed link (its early..:P)

Also atm i have a 5-port switch that is about 5 years old. I have my server, 3 computers and a network printer installed. So there is no room for anything more :(
If i were to get a 4 port router, id drop the server and plug the cable modem (Telstra) into the router and just wireless my new laptop.

Your link doesn't work. Right click the link on the site and chose "copy link location" or "copy shortcut".
Anyhow depending on what exactly you have now you may just need a wireless access point or a hub.

I'm wishing more places sold Apple Airport wireless gear.

I'm not a huge fan of Apple computers overall, but the Airport wireless gear I've played with leaves the cheap Asus/D_Link/Netgear/SMC/Billion stuff for dead in terms of ease of use and most importantly - decent signal strength thru walls.

Props to the dude over the road for the free broadband getting me upto speed on that one :P

DO NOT buy the D-Link. I had numerous problems with mine. Besides f***ed connectivity, it also made this high pitched sound when connected to the internet.

I went and bought a Linksys one after getting my money back. Solid as a rock. Linksys FTW.

To get the best performance with the DLink you will need to do a firmware upgrade. To upgrade the firmware you need to cross your fingers really well. The 604t is the same as the 504t but with wireless. I updated 6 of the 504t's and 3 died during the process and I have flashed hundreds of other chips without any problem. There is however a failed firmware update program now that can repair it but it will take some searching to find it.

i had the dlink dsl 604+, just got rid of it on ebay..hehe. it would constantly drop out (the dsl modem). I would have to pull the power out, wait 5 seconds, power it back up.

Ive since been running a netgear with about 3 comps always on, and about 4 other computers on wireless without a hitch for 6months +

Same s*** I run and its never missed a beat. I'm a very intensive wireless user as well since my Xbox has one of those ethernet to wireless adapaters so I can stream movies & MythTV broadcasts from my server in the computer room out to my Xbox in the lounge room.

Extreme cordless performance. The Logitech G7 Cordless Mouse delivers extreme cordless performance with a 2000 dpi laser engine for blinding speed and precision response. The G7´s full-speed, bi-directional USB connection sends a blazing 500 reports/second* over 2.4 GHz wireless for a bulletproof connection. Dead batteries won´t stop you mid-mission, thanks to a five-level power indicator and twin “hot-swappable” Li-ion battery packs that recharge while you´re racking up points. Use Logitech´s SetPoint software to customize your mouse with advanced features such as game detection and adjustable sensitivity (including independent x- and y-axis settings). The programmable tilt wheel adds an unprecedented level of control and gaming power.

Taken from CA's site, costs $139

ive got 3 gigabyte GN-B49G routers working in Wireless Distribution mode, got them for $90 each from pluscorp.com.au, Very happy with them, simple to setup has enough features and in my case they where cheaper then a wireless bridge ($120) for my xbox's in other rooms, and the bonus of the 4port switch is great. for the price and what they do i recommend them.

Still on mice, i do have one of these for one of my laptops-
Logitech V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse Black.
* Tilt wheel lets you scroll side-to-side and zoom in on page details
* Super-long battery life of up to one year keeps you going
* Durable design is ideal for business-class mobility
* 5X stronger wireless connection means better range and less interference
* 2.4GHz micro-receiver snaps into mouse for easy transport
* Precision optical performance tracks your movements accurately

Again taken from the CA website, costs $59.
