well I finally got back from my 6 month backpacking adventure around Europe not too long ago. thought i'd better do a quick writeup on it to let my family (<3) know how it all went.

IT WAS GREAT!

worked in a bar in Richmond, London for about half the time (on and off), spent the other half of the time travelling around europe. Checked out Amsterdam (twice hehe), Munich, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Krakow, Rome, Florence, Barcelona, San Sebastion, Paris, Biarritz, Bordeaux, Southern Turkey and most of Switzerland.
awesome experience, I can highly reccommend it! (I say this because i think you should all give it a go sometime if you havent already :D)

Work wise, eg the bar work you did, was it worth it?? money/pay wise, hassle to get work etc???
Why I ask, I'm off in june/july and i'm heading for teaching work over there but im afraid if it doesn't work out i just want something to get me by til the next teaching contract comes along...

it is seriously so damn easy for an aussie to get bar work in london. if u just jump on www.gumtree.com u will have a job within a day or 2...they cant get enought of us.
pay is s*** (5 pounds an hour ..AUD$12.50) but generally hassle-free - plus its easy, fun, and often comes with accomodation too :)

yeah that shot is me paragliding over Oludeniz, which is near Fethiye in southern Turkey

Prague and Budapest are truely awesome places to visit, as was krakow. didnt see much in the way of anal slutz but then again i just may have not been in the right place at the right time :). eastern europe in general is f***ing good fun and next time i head over there i'm gonna spend alot more time checking it out! (and heading further EAST!)

that ipod served me so damn well on those 16 hour bus trips! :o

heh, knew it looked familiar! I paraglided over that very same spot!

cant wait till march 07, thinking thats when i'll move to london and work on the touring circuit, probably take a month to see europe as well, so many places i want to visit.

yeah, got back a few weeks ago. will be over again for longer in about 18 months with a bit of luck

all up i spent about 4 grand....it was a kinda self-sufficient holiday - i worked half the time and used that money to travel. moral to the story is you dont need great mountains of cash to go on a 6 month holiday! :D
