Why should be be disallowed from changing his name to whatever he wants? Even without their laws on separation of church and state it should be allowed, but that would have been what saved it in this case.

I don't believe religion should be allowed into government/politics, I believe the judge is required to have the same stance.

As far as i know in places like the UK you can change your name by deed poll to whatever you like. You could change your name to 'sir willy' and you would legally be sir willy. That would not allow you to have a recognised title it would just allow you to have the first name of 'sir'.

Not sure about Australia as we seem to be quite strict in some regards. I would guess it is similar.

It's not about the legalities of the mattter, it's just so stupid. If you ask me, peoples names should have similar laws to trademarks. Therein you can't be called something of extreme common use or signifigance or a generic term. This man is not god, the other man is not santa claus, nobody is the easter bunny, the tooth fairy, the boogeyman, dracula and so on. It's just absurd.
