if you want somewhere to party theres a place called the Woolshed. generally full of backpackers and if you time it right there could be a Bus load of contiki in town!

Depends what ya looking for man...if you want backpackers then yea go to Woolshed, Gilligans or Shennanigans...if you wanna club it up an take cool drugs go to SoHo (i think it is called something else since i have left) on the esplanade above mcdonalds...that's a start anyway...check out that shizzle an go with the flow.. Cairns is an orsom place, if you did stay for new years i would recommend you go out to Fitzroy Island for it.

Its the tourist off season here - because its either absurdly hot like it is atm, or raining for a week or 2 non stop. Cairns actually goes off in "winter" (we don't really have one).
