I didn't see planet of the apes, i didn't really like harry and the hendersons, so I dont' see why this ape would appeal to me

I'm considering going to see it, I've heard some really fabulous reviews about it in the paper.

It was ok...the effects looked a bit dodge in parts, and it really could've been a lot shorter.

Kong himself looked awesome though.

I thought it was gonna be s***, but it was actually really good! Didn't seem that long at all either - it flows very quickly.

Only gripe is that there was something wrong with the music in the cinema when I watched it. At least I'm assuming there was a technical error....the music was all out of tune and sounded like broken bagpipes n s*** for the WHOLE movie. Was totally f***ed.

Overheard a few other people at the end who were doing a "wtf" too.

Still, top movie.

Cool movie. Mostly good effects, however at times when the actors are along side all the CG animals it looks kinda dodge. Still, Kong was a mad fella and f***ed s*** up. Lots of cool and funny moments throughout, I didn't check my watch once for the whole three hours. Plus Naomi Watts is a smokin hottie.

3 f***in hrs!?

Yeh its the only thing stopping me from going to see the big monkey.

I watched the original B+W version after the 'At the Movies' interview with Jackson. The original only went for an 1hr and 20 mins!

I think Jackson is getting a head swell as he almost ruined 'The Return of the King' with its ridiculous long winded ending. Apparently the credits rolled for more than 15mins!

I think its a bit harsh to say "ruined". Yeah, the ending to rotk dragged a bit but really it was the ending to all three movies, so I guess it had to be a bit longer. And while I'm totally not a fan of how painfully the ending drags out, I wouldn't go anywhere near saying it ruined the movie. Peter Jackson is still a legend.

i thought the ending of rotk was awsome. atleast he didnt follow the book. u probably would have sat through another 30 mins of the hobbits kicking saruman and the evil men out of the shire.

Lord Of The Rings could have been alot shorter if everybody wasn't mucking around. They should have gone straight to Mordor and dropped off the ring instead of prancing all over the country side.

King Kong was an awsome flick.

I did cry like a baby though but I am blaming Guido for that.

They did a great job on Kong. His facial expressions were spot on and very well done.

yeah i thought they coulda cut a good half hour of cgi battles out. my ass was so sore afterwards from the bloody seats at balmoral. woulda been sweet to see it in gold class i suppose.

aside from it being too long it was a brilliant movie. the kids were getting right into it.

Kong smash!

i dont understand why they just didnt put frodo on a griffin in the first place

Gandelf: Here frodo, get on this griffin and drop the ring in the lava in Mt Doom.

Frodo: Ok gandelf.

... time passes ...

Frodo: Bombs away

The end.

Yeah, saw it a few days ago, I loved it. My only real gripe was that his death scene seemed to drag out too long. By the end I was getting pretty sick of it and just wanted him to hurry up and die.

I saw it tonight and thought it was average at best...

took 1.5 hours or so before we even get to see kong...

dunno, the cgi and stuff was good, but the movie just seemed to drag or something, can't put my finger on it

I didn't like the bit where kong stole here off the thing & went rampaging through the forrest with her. imho after that s*** she'd be dead either broken neck or smashed her head against a rock or at least have a broken arm/let/rib or two. Other than that, the dinosaur scene was freakin awesome (only reason I saw it)

it's a movie whoop, otherwise: i didn't like the bit where the gorilla was giant ... he'd be dead via heart failure or one of the many other things 'giantism' causes death with

there was a heap of stuff in there i didn't like, but over all, it wasn't a bad watch ... just ridiculous at times, who the hell can run between stampeeding dinosaurs' legs for instance? and survive without being crippled on the ground, screaming in agony? just before one of the other dinos comes and eats you. could go on about that stuff ... but, who cares, overall: 6/10, harry potter 4 got 5/10 from me, and star wars ep 3 got 7/10---translation: don't cry too much, my ratings are based on how much the movies appealed to me

edit: also, what the hell was with that last call? "no, it was beauty that killed the beast"

nah wasn't the guy that brought it from its natural habitat or anything hey ... retarded writer? throughout the whole movie that guy was made out to be a misunderstood good guy chasing a dream, but he's pretty much the reason everyone died including kong?

Misunderstood good guy? I never saw Jack Black's character as a good guy, he was an a****** right from the start, only interested in looking out for himself and making himself famous and rich.

yeah jack black played it well, good actor ... but i still don't think they portrayed him as actually bad, just everytime he tried to get what he wanted, something went wrong - unlucky more than anything, otherwise he was just following his dream, and everyone was giving him what he wanted in the end because they needed money - service, service

light goes on? man the real beast/monster? hardly. that is a specie-ist pov and i will thank you to never mention it again. i put it to you that your statement is no different than these idiots saying 'lebanese gangs are terrorising sydney'. it is a gross generalisation, and with such, ignorance incurs which could lead to a lot of innocent being hurt. observe: "man is the real monster, we must destroy man if we are to save the animals, DEATH TO MAN!!!! RALLY AT THE BEACH AND DESTROY OURSELVES!!!"

exaggerated i know, but honestly, get a clue and stfu with that old school bs. just because it's from ancient times and it was the point of the movie all those years ago doesn't make it anymore true today ... the writer was probably just a tree-hugger who didn't understand humans due to an obvious lack of intellect and thus felt safer with animals, therefore animals weren't monsters, man was. boohoo, queue river, now go write something worthwhile.

from Roger Ebert's review on Kong: "..it isn't that beauty killed the beast. It's that we feel threatened by beauty, especially when it overwhelms us, and we pay a terrible price when we try to deny its essential nature and turn it into a product, or a target."

haven't seen the movie yet, probably gonna see it today. Roger actually gave it 4/5 stars and he's hard to impress. i thought it'd be really crap but seems like quite a few of you liked it so i will follow the crowd.

King Kong is timeless because it is at heart, a unique story of unrequited love. No matter how improbable or bizarre, no matter how many people are brutally done in by Kong during the film, the innate sadness of his hopeless obsession with Fay Wray that culminates with his ultimate demise remains curiously compelling. It was beauty killed the beast. could be the most appropriate closing line in motion picture history.

The praise of morons will always be moronic praise.

Here, I'll do what you did to prove my point.

http://summitchristianchurch.org/epochbeliefs.shtml

We believe the Bible is the greatest story ever told. Inspired by God and without error as originally transcribed, it speaks truth of God's great love for all people. Read it and realize God's love for you.

Try again to disprove my point.

"..it isn't that beauty killed the beast. It's that we feel threatened by beauty, especially when it overwhelms us, and we pay a terrible price when we try to deny its essential nature and turn it into a product, or a target."

Can anyone here actually define exactly what beauty is and what it means to us? Keep in mind it's in the eye of the beholder, so why is it important and why does it inspire such intense emotions in people?

watched this tonight... i thought people were exaggerating for it going for 3 hours... but it really did go for 3 WHOLE HOURS OMG.

i wish they showed how they got kong from skull island back to mainland, but that probably wouldn't be good watching, i heard the guy from behind me ask about this aswell.

overall epic.

epic.
