hey guys i'm in the market for a new car got about $15k to spend. Been looking at a few falcon ba xt's which seem pretty nice.
I heard you can get some pretty good deals from government auctions and came accross this site http://www.pt.qld.gov.au/auctions/carsales.htm. Has anyone bought from a qfleet auction before? Is it worth the effort? Any general advice (never bidded at an auction before)? --- On a related note to help finance such a purchase i'm selling my Yzf 600 if anyones interested (fuknuckle :D?) for $6k ono. Registered (literally just paid the rego yesterday). Pics or lying http://www.leetbix.com/yzf.jpg Anyone interested shoot me msn/email @ fizzer AT leventh.com. /end shameless plug |

was about to get my new car from auctions, then realised its a really bad idea because if your not mechanically minded you could be buying a f***ed up car due to you not being able to get an inspection by a professional on the car that your intrested in.
No warrenty ect |

Well the qfleet ones i've been looking at all seem to have RACQ inspections. I was under the impression this is what most ppl get to give them piece of mind when buying from a private seller (another option i was thinking about). So i'd assume the risk are roughly the same?
Hell i'd imagine the QFLEET to be more accountable. Discuss. |

whats that got to do with qfleet scuzzy It doesn't but its still an auction and i have looked at them before. I'd actually come accross them before. Given that it seems most auctions are on friday i'm trying to work out if its worth me taking a day off to go and check them out. |

QFleet cars are fine.
My folks used to buy off them a fair bit. Recently their public auctions really haven't been that good a value, the private dealer ones are tho. RACQ inspections are ok, even better if you can get a mechanic you know and trust to put it up on a hoist and give it a once over. |

been to the springwood auctions a few times (near supercheap)
and yea, most of the cars dont reach the reserve, so the winning bidder only wins the right to negotiate with the seller. i guess youd really have to check out all the cars you were interested in thouroughly before you bid seriously. |

I bought my AUII falcon wagon from the auctions, had it 3 years now and it is great. I had no problems buying form the austions and it was very easy.
I do know however that the BA XT's are going for $22k and no less. If they are passed in then there is no negotiation under this price. |
