Nero Vision Express is a quick easy method, there's probably better out there, but for the effort it's a breeze.

I'll second Scuzzy right there. NVE is awesome. It's easy enough for a noob to pick up and use but has enough flexibility and features for the more experienced.

Cinema Craft Encoder SP ftw, use nero or something similar to convert the mpeg es files to dvd (vob) format.

8 hours? no way. I use ulead video studio 8 to turn avi -> dvd files then nero to burn. ulvs doesn't like burning for some reason. takes like an hour or two depending on how long the show is. normal 45 minutes/hour I guess. That's going from mpeg to dvd though, not avi. What kind of crazy is this?

I don't know what you're doing wrong but if it looks all blocky you must have f***ed something up. I can take an avi or mpeg off my camera & turn it into a dvd quality video in under 3 hours. I'll say 3 because I'm not exactly sure how long it takes including editing bits in/out. methinks you need to refine your methods/raise the video quality a tad. |

^^ heh whoop thats just for converting *.avi + *.mov files, i use ATI Mutimedia center to convert DV footage to DVD in realtime mpeg2 it uses the GPU's Pixel Shaders, and of course editing and swipes+text+music will take out a lot of your time.
As for the blockyness you will get that using singlepass mepeg2 encoders that use lowbitrates, 9 mbit software encoding take stuff all to do and does not produce blockyness but file sizes are really big, hardware IDC is ideal to use (ie Conexant MPEG2 Hardware Analouge Tuner) for capturing with low bitrates via svideo/composite. :) last edited by 0z at 13:48:05 23/Oct/05 |

nerovision express ftw.
as someone said, noob enough for beginners, but got enough features for the more advanced. superb image quality, and it's quick. as in, faster than 1:1 with a decent cpu. lets u do movies with dvd menus, etc forget DVD2SVCD (god that was s***) |
