I'd rather have it outside than inside the box heating everything up, but it is rather large.

It looks about the same size as the PSU in the old Xbox just outside the case, it's still smaller than a PC PSU.

I think they should ban them in jails, someone could kill themselves with it.

considering the processing power in the xbox360 relative to the size of the unit, I dont' find this at all surprising?

That or that doode in the photo is a midget or a hobbit so you know the power brick might be tiny.

I looked at the trap ray. That thing reminds me of the power supply from the commodore 64 we used to have. I think we might still have it laying around somewhere so if I cbf I'll go find it. The c64 one was more of a box than a rectangle so it was about as high as it was long/across I think. Either that or I'm going bats*** insane and thinking of some other huge power supply thing we had.

anythings possible but then the third picture should give you good idea of the actual size of it give then it's sitting next to a regular powerboard and wall socket regardless of the fact that it's been slightly photoshopped with the ghostbuster stuff :)

The original xbox can chew up to 90 Watts, I dont think the size of that external adapter is so overwhelming. Allthough those are all apparantly photos of dev kits. I would expect the retail version to be a little more compact.

thats slightly hard to judge scale Oz. I'll take your word for it.

As for the Xbox360, I'd almost bet my life on that not being a final product. Microsoft know its a consumer product, and they wouldn't release it with something like that. We have 130w laptop power suplies which are much smaller than that.

As to the person who said it can draw up to 90 watts, great... thats f*** all.

You mean Dan who posted 3 posts before you? And was referring to the original xbox?

Power bricks get more capacious AND more efficient, processors get faster and transistor sizes go down causing power usage to stay stagnant... admitedly they probably are more power hungry than a celeron 700, but as I said, I know of many a 130w laptop power suply that is half the size of that.

It has to be an improvement on the current xbox case, which is larger than my workstation.

Still... I'm geek enough to admit I'll one no matter what it looks like; even if it takes me a couple of months to give in like it did with the current Xbox.
